Hey All,

Long time lurker on this board but first time posting.

Have a question for yall. I have a 2023 F-150 5.0 FX4 that just hit 80,000 miles.

The truck has been flawless and I would like to keep it that way. Curious now that Ive hit 80,0000 what services I should look at getting done on the truck. Ive done oil changes every 5k, and keep up with the cabin air filter & intake filter but thats about it.

Front Diff, Rear Diff, Transfer Case, oil changes
10R80 drain and filter change
Spark Plug Change

I just changed the oil and applicable filters on all of the gearboxes and engine on my 2019 Raptor last week. Won't be doing that on a creeper ever again.

Maybe replace the shocks if your ride has deteriorated. Check your brake pads and rotors. Check brake fluid level, change if you're up for the job. Check coolant level.

Just hit 80k a few months ago on my f150 I got done exactly what aggieforester listed. Next on my list is coolant flush, fuel induction service, and inspect all suspension and brake components.

For the transmission a drain and fill was highly recommended (online) even though it may only replace a portion of the fluid bc apparently a flush will put too much pressure and deteriorate the CDF drum which is already prone to failure.

I just dropped the pan as much as I could, it was blocked by an exhaust pipe from completely coming out. Then used a vacuum pump to get the fluid out. I got about 6 quarts out when the capacity is 13ish. Supposedly you can unbolt the valve body and get closer to 9, but I didn't have the time or the extra Mercon ULV.

If anyone does this make sure you get the little rubber sleeve with your filter. My oil change kit didn't come with one and I had to order a whole filter, sleeve, and gasket kit to get it in a timely fashion. Do yourself a favor and order the parts separately from the oil. I should have done that it would have been much cheaper than the kits. You also do not have to change the gasket if the original is in good shape. I couldn't get mine off without disassembling the exhaust, so I reused the original.

The process varies depending on year and engine. My Raptor was supposed to be one of the easiest. The 5.0s require disconnecting the transmission mounts and jacking the power train up. The 2021s are all different according to the videos I watched. Do your due diligence and order stuff well ahead of time.

This was my best friend during the process and I used it on every gearbox:

Happy Eagle OIl Pump

On the Amazon Page you can get an adapter that will work for either Milwaukee or Dewalt batteries if you don't have an easy 12v source to hook up to.

I got 6 quarts out of my 2021 F150 using a hand pump and hose stuck in the fill nozzle on the side of the transmission.

Great responses on fluid changes. I will second the input about new shocks all around. My F150 was markedly better ride and handling after installing Bilstein 5100 at 65k miles. The rear ones are easy enough to do in your driveway in about an hour, if you want to save a few bucks. You don't have to have a jack or remove tires - just a ratchet and a wrench and then some blue loctite and a torque wrench to reinstall. Plenty of videos on Youtube showing process.

Another option on the Ford 10R80 transmission fluid change: Rather than messing with the headache of dropping the pan, just drain and fill from the port. You'll only get about 3L of the 13L total (23%), but if you repeat the process with each engine oil change, you will have replaced 50% of the original fluid after three times and 80% after six times.

Consider also adding Lubegard 63010 Platinum to your Mercon ULV refill.

Must have gotten the tube all the way to the bottom of the pan. That would be about right. I think I got three or four pumping from the fill port before I dropped the pan. Made a lot less of a mess that way. Regardless, wear throw away clothes, you'll never get the smell out.

I'm 1ags and I approve this message.

Also did you know the harpy can run in reverse if you swap the alligator clips?
