Looking at one to get around within 1 hour from the house. Thoughts on the 2.7L Ecoboost? Auto Start. & Stop? WTH. Where have I been?

I just got an F150 with that engine 2 weeks ago. Wanted it based on research (mostly fuel efficiency and reliability).

Very happy so far. Lots of power in the F150.

Both engines in the Ranger are solid.

If I wanted a commuter truck with light hauling (90% of truck owners) I'd get the 2.7l over every engine Ford offers.

Yep. This F150 with the 2.7 tows the same amount my old tundra with a 5.7 does.

I've had a 2.7 in a F-150 for about 18 months. I drive about 2,000 miles a month... mostly highway. If I keep it 70 and below I can get ~ 22.5 - 23 mpg. If I put my foot in it.... more like 19.5. Both of those are according to the computer... which I've found to be about 1 mpg higher than reality.

It'll tow just fine, but you'll feel it in the gas tank if you're going very far. Like 11.5 mpg with turbos constantly whistling.

Give the transmission a transfusion about every 40K miles.

Thanks for the input.

Drove the Raptor today. The 3.0L had plenty of power, but not interested in chasing Hogs across the pasture. Very smooth on the Hwy. Not sure if I want to pay for Premium gas though.
