I got my daughter a standup paddle board for Christmas. Summer is around the corner and she'll soon want to start using it. It's too long to fit in the back of my Ram 2500 (short bed).

What are some good brands that sell bed racks for these things? It would be great if it could be easily taken in and out.

That would be great but I'm also pulling a camper.

That is quite a constraint. Will it fit inside the camper? If not, can you mount a rack on top of the camper?

I'd like something that would bring it horizontal over my truck cab/bed.

Perhaps a ladder rack?

Look at Thule or Yakima. They are the leaders in this. They are expensive.

It will be cheaper to buy an inflatable SUP

A ladder rack is your best bet for something relatively inexpensive as long as you don't mind it being on your truck permanently. Agree with the other poster on the Thule or Yakima suggestion if you want something that you can use when needed and easily remove afterward.

Thule or Yakima will be the best but pricey. Cheaper to put mount on top of rv.

I know they make Thule mounts for diamondback bed cover if you really want to spend money.

Otherwise ladder rack or even headache rack, pool noodle and ratchet strap.

If he mounts a rack to the RV, then he'd need to drag the RV to the water even when not camping. Also, if camping, if the water is not at the campsite, then would still need to drag the RV. I do see the appeal of mounting on top of the RV, but then you're stuck with the RV as the only option.

When he's not hooked to RV it can stick out of the back of bed of the truck.
