I am curious what people are spending these days for new tahoes/sequoias/etc.

Looking online I see z71 tahoes with msrp of upper 70's/low 80's. From what I understand that trim is basically the mid range? Are dealerships coming off the price any on these or other trims?

Sequoias all seem the be in the 80's for a non base trim. Can they be had for cheaper?

We are currently on the list for a new GX, but I am somewhat looking at other options if they would be willing to deal on them some? If not, we will stick with the Lexus.

Haven't bought a new vehicle since 2020 (before the covid) so I'm a little unsure of the current market. Years past I would also get about 10 grand knocked off sticker price. I'm guessing those days are gone?

$5k off MSRP is about standard for a full size SUV. However, it's all supply and demand. If you want the same make, model, and trim as everyone else, expect $0 off msrp or even a dealer markup.

You can probably get $10k off MSRP as long as you're willing to buy the one the dealership wants to get rid of the most. Might be an unpopular color, or have weird options. Might be missing an important option like cruise control or might have $10k sunroof option that nobody is willing to pay for.

I've looked at TrueCar.com in the past but not sure how accurate it is.

CostCo's Car Purchase program could be good, likely not getting the absolute best deal, but it seems like quick process w/ no haggling.

I'd reach out here for dealership contacts first.

Tahoes and Denali's are still super hard to deal. They fly off the lot as soon as they arrive. During Covid, they couldn't even be found.

Look at Laura Buick GMC online. They sell an astronomical amount of them.

Sewell GMC in dallas is also one of the highest grossing Yukon dealers in the country.

But if you want a ford expedition? The inventory is limitless.

I would recommend figuring out the vehicle you like the most first, and then do more research into the pricing. Last year I had several different full size SUVs as rentals, all for multiple weeks, so I have a few opinions but I haven't had a chance to be in a Sequoia, Land Cruiser, or Armada so I don't know how those would compare to the Tahoe/Suburban, Expedition, or Wagoneer.

The order I enjoyed driving them.
1 - Wagoneer
2 - Expedition
3 - Tahoe

I liked driving the Wagoneer the most overall. It was comfortable, quiet, liked the engine, controls were the easiest to navigate. The Expedition wasn't far behind, it felt really similar but the biggest thing I didn't like about it was there was no traditional gauge cluster, it was just a really wide video screen behind the steering wheel and I thought the controls were the most difficult to get a hang of out of the 3. I liked the Tahoe the least of the 3. No issues with the controls but it felt the most bulky and slowest, I also hated that the gear selection was from pressing a button on the dash. I'm not a fan of the dial on the Wagoneer or the Expedition but those are preferred to the buttons on the Tahoe dash for me.

Regardless of how much I liked each one to drive if I was going to purchase one I'd go with the Expedition mostly because the Wagoneers are the least reliable and their value drops the most after purchase. I used to own a Silverado so I'm not against GM products but it was easily the least enjoyable of the 3 to drive.

I don't have any opinion of the Armada but the Sequoia has the flaw of the cargo area not being flat when you lower the third row seat. The Land Cruiser isn't as big as the others but if you're looking at a GX I'd at least give one a test drive.

Land cruiser would be the top of the list but we need a 3rd row for emergencies, hence why we are in line for gx.

We (wife) dont really want a full size suv I was just curious if deals could be had, and if so I would possibly try to convince my wife to go that route so we could get a little more room for a better price. But the way it sounds is everything besides bottom trim level will all be around mid 70's at best. If that's the case we will stick with the GX.

Do a little research on GM v8 reliability issues. You might want to wait for some major updates.

I've heard the same from a family member that loved a rental (maybe Grand) Wagoneer, but they get billed as horrible on r/whatcarshouldIbuy.

Obligatory get an LX600.

Wife drives a first gen wagoneer with the 5.7L hemi.

After a few early recalls and software bugs, we've had about 60k trouble free miles (knock on wood).

I will say though, it drives the smoothest of the three and has insane turning radius.

The Land Cruiser is a lot smaller on the inside than it looks. My buddy got one and I was surprised by how cramped it was.

I've been watching 2022-2024 certified GM SUVs (Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade) for a few months now and prices have surprisingly ticked up, despite big time reliability concerns. Thought there would be more inventory with the engine issues and minor interior refresh they did but maybe people don't want the big ass dash screens after all (I don't).

Inventory in certified models dried up in December and hasn't gotten much better, especially if you want a white one with black rims. Not sure on other brands.

Prices for new ones are just ridiculous. Guess we will keep the 18 we have for a little bit longer and hope the Engine, AC, or Transmission don't go out

yes, it's actually what I'd prefer but wife wants a new one since we tend to keep vehicles 10 years or so. I can't blame her too much

Given the track record, a 2023 GX 460 may outlive a GX 550 as far as we know...I got a 2023 460 from Sewell a couple months ago and it looks as new as the day it was made. You can get it for 20-30k cheaper and get it now....although maybe you're not in a rush.
