Took it in for a recall on the backup camera.

While there they found a coolant leak into the #2 cylinder. Remedy is a new engine for $10K.

Vehicle has a little over 40K miles. Warranty was 6 years/70K miles so a few months past warranty.

Initial customer care support denied. Opened an escalation case this morning based on technical bulletins and I believe legal cases.

Am I being crazy for thinking a vehicle with 40K miles on it shouldn't require a full engine replacement?

When I had transmission issues with a Honda I had with $100K miles on it they fixed it no charge because it was a known issue.

I'll never have another Ford product again.

Agree this sounds fishy. Take it to an independent shop and get a second opinion first.

I knew taking it in they try to find things they can make money on during the recall. I didn't expect this though.

Fast forward to about 4:24.

The borescope shots show an active leak at the head/headgasket.

Yes, started about 4-5 months ago when starting the engine would shake a lot basically like an up and down motion. I thought it was from the cold weather and it would smooth out by the time I backed out of the drive. I didn't notice any smoke but the garage would have a hot engine type smell.

ah. well, in that case that may have been from the coolant dripping into the cylinder.

obviously there is wetness is the picture, would be good if they showed you the drip where it is coming from to confirm it

I took my company vehicle there years ago, and they sold me a transmission service and did not do anything.

The service advisor lied to me and told me that he watched the mechanic do it, and then I took an oil sample, sent it off to the labs, and proved that the transmission fluid was the original fluid in the truck.

Never heard back on my appeal with Lincoln customer care so I called them today. They had denied my appeal and never bothered to tell me while my vehicle sits at the dealership going on 2 weeks.

Apparently, the case managers at the call center are the final word, but I'm not giving up. This is unacceptable.

I may have to get a lawyer involved.

Found out the reason why they won't cover the engine. The vendor that made it went out of business so they can't pass the charge back to them so they're making us pay.

That's the truth. Bought a 2018 Audi from Audi a little over a month ago w 40k miles. Took in for check engine light. They wanted $7200 total to replace control arms and related stuff, brakes they said needed replacing ($3,600), $600 for a software update to fix the engine light, etc. I blew my top telling them they just sold it to me like that!

Apparently doesn't fix this problem. Neither does machining the block. Only replace the block which means the engine.

If you mean West Point Lincoln, I have caught them making up repairs on my Navigator. Told me I needed a water pump a couple years ago and I'm still driving with the old one - never had a problem. I stopped going there for service.

Yes West Point Lincoln. They couldn't have cared less.

It's clear my vehicle has this issue. Has all the symptoms.

I have one quote from Christian Brothers in Cypress. Going to get 2 more if anyone has any recommendations of good places to take it that can handle this work. Probably could get to CS easily too.

Please don't go to Christian Brothers. They are worse than a dealership.

Go to an independent shop.
