I'm going to contact customer service today, but figured I'd see if anyone else has had this issue. My heart rate has been locking up on activities. It just freezes. It's done it on two runs so far. Once the activity is done, it starts working again. I restarted the watch before it did it the second time.

I want to upgrade, but I wasn't planning on doing that yet.

Is it locking close to or right at your cadence?

no. The first time it locked at 99 and the second it locked at 150.

Gotcha, I'm not going to be any help then as I have only experienced the cadence lock issue. I do know that their customer service is typically great, even if the product is out of warranty, so it might be worth a call to them before you upgrade.

Just got off the chat with them. They just told me to turn the heart rate monitor off and back on and contact them if it happens again.

if you still end up with issues and aren't ready to upgrade you could try getting a HR chest strap that connects to the watch wirelessly.

You get used to it pretty quickly. I hated them, or thought I did, but used it for an Ironman. Now don't ever run without it.

Also way more accurate, especially for any interval stuff.

What Garmin do you have?

Edit: with my old Garmin, I had to use a chest strap. You do get used to it.

Love my chest strap, except for the rubbing/burning on my chest.

I chafe enough around my sports bra band even on short runs. I don't really want to add anything else to that party.

I've had issues with a couple Garmin chest straps and the optical HR sensor on my old FR935. Garmin was quick to replace all when troubleshooting didn't solve the issue. Hopefully they do right by you here.

Not related but I have a Fenix 7. Loaded with features - a little overkill. My favorite feature as I get older and have to use the bathroom more often at night is it has an LED flashlight.

I've never had great luck with wrist being very accurate during activities compared to the chest strap. I also didn't notice the inaccuracies until I tried doing both: I wore my watch while using my chest strap with a head unit (1030).

As others have said, you get used to the chest strap pretty quickly.

I don't even notice the chest strap anymore with the bra. I wonder if anyone has integrated one into a sports bra?

I had an issue within warrant they sent me a new one. Similar issue, it just locked up and showed one number

Thanks everyone. It happened again and garmin is going to replace the watch.

Also I asked if I could use this as a credit towards and upgrade, and they said no. I figured that was the answer, but thought it was worth a shot.

If you do a factory reset and you still have the issue send it in, something is going on with it.
