How long do you want to ignore this user?
To all, my hair is thinning on top of my head, while the sides are good and thick. I have never tried any type of hair growth shampoo/foam/gel etc. Is there actually anything that REALLY WORKS to get your hair to regrow on the top of your head? I am not looking for hair plugs or any of that medically invasive stuff, but if there is a good foam treatment or something like that which will actually work, I am all for giving it a try. Thanks for any advice on this.

I've had decent luck with the 5% minoxidil foam. You'll shed quite a bit the first month or two (and freak out) before the new growth starts but new growth will start. I buy the cheapest 5% foam I can find on Amazon.

Basically rogaine (external) and finasteride (internal) are the two options. Online pharmacy Keeps has some discrete options for both of those options. Minoxidil is easy to shop around and pretty cheap.

My buddy claims that regular shampoo makes hair fall out so now he cracks an egg on top of his head in the shower once a month instead. Now, I don't believe any of that crazy ****, but you might try it if you're desperate.

$20 electric razor, use it every 2 weeks. Started 6 years ago. Wish I'd done it sooner. My wife was in chemo, so we were a matched set. Have saved $1000 on haircuts. Good luck whichever route you go.

I have a receding hairline and have found goat milk shampoo and conditioner has slowed down the receding a ton.

This, I don't shave my head bald but about a 6mm/2 guard. I don't care about losing my hair and spend my money on other things besides hair cuts.

I don't use a guard. Started with a 1 or 2, but soon realized there was no point leaving hair when the goal was to have no hair. As for the cue ball look? I'm aiming for simplicity, not complexity.

Lol I don't use a guard since if you miss a spot its easier to see. Found that out a few times

I've heard from dermatologists that a supplement called Nutrafol is really good. There's also Viviscal. I haven't used either. But if you have generally thinning hair, it might be worth a shot. If it's specifically male pattern baldness a DHT blocker might be more effective, and cheaper, but does come with potential side effects.

I've been blessed with relatively good hair growth as I have aged but am getting a bit of receding at the corners of the temples. Not a grey hair yet though.

I take a bit of Taurine in my supplements and it supposedly has anti aging effects

But, as soon as I get any substantial receding or thinning, it's a 2-3 guard and some Wahl clippers for me. It's the natural course of things and I won't miss dealing with hair. I've been sporting a white wall haircut since I was 18, so the sides/back have been buzzed almost to the skin for 29 years. Zero maintenance besides a weekly buzz looking in the mirror, never missed having hair.

Well, I have ordered up some rogain type stuff and will use religiously for six months and see what happens. Hopefully the top will come back in, and fuller. If not, I will go back to scunyon on the onion.

Try a 1 guard. You'll love it.

I'm an Oster 76 man and I use the 0.2 mm blade. I used to stress about hair loss. Shaving my head was the most liberating thing I've done. Shaved it the first time in 2004 and never looked back. Best of luck to you in whatever you decide.

That's about the same time I pulled the trigger. It hadn't gotten bad but my dad is very bald and neither of my grandfathers had much so when it started to thin I just went all the way. I know it stresses a lot of men out, luckily I was never really focused on my personal appearance so it wasn't a huge loss in my opinion. Been using these clippers for years w/out a guard because I don't want to use a razor and this is about as close as you can probably get.

I am almost out of my 30s, balding, and have some greys coming in (thank you job). Never batted an eye or bothered to cared. Nothing I am willing to do to change it so why stress?

Just be aware that it will make a lot of hair you currently have go ahead and fall out before you see regrowth. And there are some people that don't have the enzyme in their scalp that is needed to break down and process minoxidil. For those people, rogaine won't do a darn thing.
