My teenager stepped on a dirty nail. It barely punctured the skin. There was a slight amount of bleeding. We're washing it now and will put some antibiotic cream on it.

He had a tetanus shot in 2020.

Should we get another one?

TIA

I wouldn't worry about it unless more than 5 years since the last shot. That's what the ER doc told me last time I got a cut from a metal part

Can confirm. 5 years for deep puncture wounds or dirty contaminated surface wounds and open fractures. 10 years otherwise.
