Just a quick question for y'all……I'm 51 and have been a relatively healthy dude….have been on HBP meds for a decade but other than that no other health issues. Within the past year I've been diagnosed with: type 2 diabetes, kidney disease, and proteinurea…..my protein / creatnin ratio is through the roof. My nephrologist said I've got something going on with my kidneys. Anybody else experience these issues and if so…..what was your diagnosis?

First guess would be due to diabetes
+ HTN

You can reverse your diabetes with a low carb diet. This will hopefully lead to healthier kidneys as well. Best of luck to you!

It was one test away from going on type 2 meds. Doc told me to go on low carb diet and I lost 35 pounds. I just got tested again. I'm back into the normal. I feel so much better!

Had a renal biopsy on Tuesday, so hopefully I have some answers soon.

Meat, low glycemic index fruit, dairy, vegetables when wife does stir fry. Rinse and repeat.

Assuming nothing more major from the biopsy.

Thank you for all of your responses. I got my biopsy results yesterday. I have been diagnosed with. FSGS (FOCAL SEGMENTAL GLOMERULOSCLEROSIS)
