How long do you want to ignore this user?
On Friday morning, my father had some "episode", maybe TIA's. Anyway up until then he has been doing fine living alone with an occasional housekeeper / cook showing up every week. We called 911 and the ambulance took him to a hospital in Conroe. He's been there 6 days recovering from pneumonia, no solid food, etc and now the hospital wants us to act ASAP and take him to a rehab / nursing home.

Have any of you had a good experience with any places in or near Conroe / Woodlands, even Huntsville or Livingston?

Here a few they threw at us:
Park Manor
The Bright Pointe
Woodland Manor
Conroe Health Care Center - NOT THIS ONE, I've been told it's "nasty"!

I've dealt with this, but in Katy area. I think you will find that the base staff in these places may not be that great and many people hire additional help for their parent if they want good care or need more than the minimum support. Many places have a rep from one of these additional care providers available on-site.

Another option is smaller places that can be in private homes. I found an example of one of these in the Conroe area called Seasons Assisted Living. I think caregivers in these places are usually better and they have fewer people to look after. Only thing I saw was that these places mostly have people in pretty bad shape, so might not be the best place for your needs.

My sister has needed in patient rehab several times. First, was in a nursing home. That was not a great experience.

Next, she went to Encompass Health of Waco. Great experience both times. They worked her hard, she also liked the employees. She was also happy with the food, it was good.

I do see that they have locations in your area, it might be worth checking out.

OP, I've been the admin at NH in Livingston for the last 8 years. I don't visit this board often and just saw this. Sorry to hear about the troubles but happy to answer questions about the process, and offer any help possible.

I'm sure at this point y'all are already somewhere and sorting through things but feel free to reach out.

Have you checked AgingCare? As far as I know, they help to find senior living options near you.
