Anyone have a home sauna? (You may have seen my other thread - for our Christmas presents to each other, we are converting a large basement room to a health/fitness room and I'm looking for ideas of how best to trick it out.)

Looking at infrared, but open to any ideas. They are really less expensive than I thought. Probably prefer a two person.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

I was in this boat last year, didn't pull the trigger because it just wasn't in the budget. The main thing is first to figure out if you want infrared or a steam sauna. Steam saunas will need a 220v outlet. Steam saunas get much hotter so you don't sit in them for very long. Infrared ones can be purchased in many different sizes and from a lot of vendors like Costco, Home Depot, etc. You have to assemble them but I don't think they're that tough to do based on my research. Figure out what size you want and measure out the room. For our house I would probably go with a 2 person unit to have extra space even though there would only be one person at a time. I don't have any suggestions regarding brands because they all seem to be very similar in construction and materials. At some point I'd like to have one as well.

My friends have an infrared. I really like it, but it's different from steam (at least for me) in that I don't sweat as much. It just doesn't feel as hot (but it still feels good).

I think theirs is a two person, but no way I'd be comfortable with another person in there with me (and I'm not that big).

Theirs basically has an iPad that is used to control it. There are different programs (heating rate and max temp) and you can turn it on from an app on your phone, too.

I'd love to have one but don't have a good place to put it.

My backyard. You can come over and use it whenever you want. Just let my bride know when to put the dog up.

Sorry, at this time of year I couldn't resist.

We bought one a few years ago when a guy was advertising on Craigslist for his business. I will see if I can find a name on it, but pretty sure I posted this same thing in a thread here a year or two back if that is faster. Ours is infrared.

I was introduced to infrared sauna at Restore Hyper Wellness-Cryotonics on University Drive E. (Owned by Logan and Katy Pounds Lee, former Aggie basketball players.) Liked it so much that I bought one for a corner of my bedroom...just plug it in and wait for it to heat. Mine is 36"x 36." If I had it to do over, I would get larger and better. Check out temp range up to 140.

I found my post from the thread from 2021:

We have one from Maxxus saunas that we like. It goes to 150, has color prism therapy and an AM/FM radio. The thing I thought was cool is that it was so easy to assemble because it is held together with a buckle system, so will be easy to move when the time comes. We've enjoyed having it.
