I recently went to a functional medicine doctor after years of going down the path of traditional medicine in hopes of gaining a better understanding of what has been causing elevated bloop pressure, chronic inflammation, fatigue and etc. I exercise 6 days a week, not overweight, no diabetes, don't smoke.....etc. I've always been a sceptic of non-traditional medicine but went to go see a functional medicine doctor at my wife's request.

Most of my labs came back normal but my mold test (via labcorp blood draw) results were all very high outside the range of reference. He believes mold could be the source of a lot of my issues. I've always had bad allergies and remember mold as being one of my triggers when being tested as a kid and still have chronic inflammation in the nasal cavities today. Is there any reason to be concerned with elevated mold lab results and/or any reason to believe they could be causing issues within the body outside of allergies?

What "mold lab" did he order? Was it some sort of IgG titer to mold? Or elevated eosinophils?

Go see an allergist. This is anecdotal but I would often times feel very groggy or like I just had a low grade cold. Turns out I was allergic to a BUNCH of things. Chronic use of anti-histamines wasn't fun either bc that would make me feel tired as well. After a year of shots I feel better, almost never take anti-histamines, and get sick far less.

Are you sure it wasn't IGE? A + mold IGG would be very concerning for either mold in the lungs or sinuses. I would tilt more toward an infectious disease doc if you indeed have mold IGG.

My wife had mold in her lungs almost 20 years ago. . Her IGE levels were off the charts and they are still high today.

If positive IgG for aspergillus, and it's significantly elevated, it needs to be worked up with CT sinuses, Chest X-ray, and possibly chest CT and bronchoscopy (pulmonologist for the last if not the latter two).

Yes, that was one of the higher readings. I've historically had chronic nasal inflammation and routine sinus infections. I might have had one at the time I did my labs. Should I see an ENT/Allergist or Infectious Disease?

Honestly I would send to both. Fungal sinus infections almost always require surgical debridement as well as medication.

See the ENT. If that ENT doesn't do allergy (most do) in their office, see an allergist as well. Might need further referrals depending on findings.
