I recently broke my hand and am getting stir crazy not being able to work out. Is there anything I can do to still get a balanced (no one armed push/pull-ups!) upper body workout? Or how much strength will I lose with a six week break?

You can do craploads of arm circles and work your shoulders and delts at least. You might be able to hook a curl bar in your elbows off a rack and do some shoulder and work lifting it with your upper arms only.

Some of the gym machines may have attachments or pads that let you push against resistance with your lower forearms or at the elbows if adjusted right.

You can still work out with the other. There is evidence that if you continue to work out one side of your body, it keeps the otherside from degrading as bad.

Like BQ said - do tons of machine work if you can. If not use bands. You can do a lot with bands.

Maybe some loaded front carries, like a sandbag? That will tax your upper body pretty good. But I could see that getting it into position could be hard. Maybe if you had a barbell on a rack and loaded it into your elbows and did it that way.

Thanks everyone, I'm going to try these, and any other suggestions anyone has!
