Howdy!

Curious if anyone has or had gastritis? Started having some abdominal pain after Halloween, eventually went to the ER and they diagnosed as gastritis. CT scan was negative for anything else, and blood work was normal. No other real symptoms

Prescribed Omeprazole and sent away. Seemed like after a few weeks the pain had subsided, then came back after week 4. Got back on it, but now seems to get dizzy after eating and very frequent heartburn now. Didn't have that before.

Anyone else go through a series of gastritis? The anxiety has been awful.

Stats- male, 40s, no preexisting conditions, or family history. Not overweight, and in decent shape.

Gastritis is a pretty generic term to represent a bunch of conditions that causes irritation to the stomach. Your symptoms could be due to many different underlying issues. H Pylori (bacteria that causes ulcers), another infection that causes damage to your stomach/intestinal lining, some food in your diet, stress, pancreatic insufficiency, etc.

First step I would say is to create a food and symptom diary. Log everything you eat, log your sleep, and log your stress level, and correlate that with your symptoms. Try to eliminate foods from your diet one at a time and see how it affects you. Acidic foods, spicy foods, coffee, peppermint, etc., (all the good stuff).

Most things you describe can be fixed with time and patiently finding your triggers. If that doesn't work, can seek out a doctor. Would avoid the omeprazole whenever you can. Don't want to develop a dependence on it. If you can get carafate, that doesn't cause a tolerance to develop.
