My question is whether buying CPAP supplies through a medical supplier is actually beneficial or even necessary. I've been doing this for years. Recently I was using HeartStrong sleep, which did a great job. My insurance plan changed, and they are not in network. So I'm looking over other companies that are in network with my UHC Choice Plus plan. On a whim, I checked Amazon for the certain mask that I wear. It's $25 cheaper than any online CPAP store price I can find and what I paid before . Other than the nothing going to my deductible, is there a disadvantage to just ordering my supplies on Amazon or other supplier?

I would be wary of Amazon because it's full of chinese knockoffs

The fact that CPAPs are considered regulated and you need a prescription which jacks up the price is the problem with the medical business in a nutshell. Think about how many lives could be improved or lengthened if you could buy one off of the shelf.

Having said that - I've been using Amazon for years for everything BUT the machine and have had 0 problems. I wouldn't hesitate recommending buying off of it for your CPAP supplies.

That's a great point. I could be wrong about my confidence, but it's supposedly from the "ResMed store" on Amazon. That makes me feel better about it.

I have used the ResMed items from Amazon for years without issue. The mask, head gear, and filters are the product at much lower cost than from the Medical Supply store my Dr recommended.

You mean the medical supply store that he is probably part owner in...
