***Disregard. I just saw that it's sold out.***

Is anyone planning on doing Hyrox in Houston in March?

I did some preliminary testing this morning at the track and, holy cow, it was harder than I anticipated.

To break 1:30 solo is more challenging than you would think. Gotta be well rounded. Love me some Hyrox.

Nope. Wanted to but it was sold out by the time I tried.

I will be there on the Saturday. I can do all the stations pretty well, I just suck at running which is annoying because it is a race and running is most of it. I'm mostly just trying to beat my time last year.

The convention center A/C had trouble keeping up last year and it ended up getting fairly warm inside with all the people in there working hard.

My coach is a top women's 40+ competitor the last few years, so we get pretty good training programming at the gym. How big are you? I find most of the stations to be pretty easy though I am at a bit of a disadvantage myself as the only station that favors small and light is the burpee broad jumps.

Pretty much everything else favors a bigger taller athlete from the wall balls to the carry stations to the sleds and rowers and ski machines. At 5'9" and 158, pushing and pulling a super heavy sled takes a lot out of me. In theory I should do better at the run by being smaller but not over only 8K apparently.

I got an 11:20 start time. After months of no issues I somehow pinched the nerve in my lower back Tuesday at some point and it's giving me quite a bit of discomfort at times. Feels like a back ache but you can tell it is a nerve tweak because the irritation or pain sensation goes around the sides to the abs where the nerve endings go. As long as it settles down, I should be OK for the race but if I aggravate it, it will make it pretty miserable.

It doesn't impede your ability at all, just makes it hurt like hell in the process.

Good luck! Like I said above, I tried to sign up, but I was too late. Turns out to be for the best because about a month ago I injured my hamstring, pretty good. I am back to running and weightlifting, but I'm still nervous about explosive stuff. I definitely want to start doing these in the future.

Good luck! Let us know how you do. Hubs is going pro doubles at 7 tonight.

1:41:19. About 20 mins faster than last year, so I'm pretty happy. That was with various small tweaks and sore spots and my back not fully recovered, but feeling ok. I carried a gel pack in my knee brace and ate it at the halfway point and that seemed to help. I was really slow at the sled pull, but flew through the sandbag walking lunges. Overall pretty good.

One of the ladies on our training team won the women's pro division overall, and the co-owner of our gym won her age bracket in the women's pro.

Way to go on your time improvement!! And very cool about your gym friends.

Husband and his friend got 1:08, fifth in their age group for men's doubles pro. I think it was a much better set up than last year with it not being so hot and crowded, and definitely much more well organized than Dallas this past November.

Yes, the setup was much better. The bigger room stayed cooler and the run was easier to follow. Much of my improvement was chipping a bit off each event and improving my run and pacing out my effort through the whole event. My relative rankings at each station trended up and I did best at the wallballs at the end so my conditioning and self pacing was pretty good. I can probably go a bit harder out of the gate next time and shave off a few more mins. I need to run faster more than anything. It's a race, and 2/3 of it is still running.

My training buddy won his division and qualified for nationals. Whatever that means...
