Went to an ENT, did at home sleep test and have severe sleep apnea. He prescribed a cpap wants me to do a nasal mask. I'm waiting for the medical device place to call me to order. They are checking with insurance.

Any reviews on the machines?

I travel once a month so won't some type of portability. Most drive but have flights 2-3 times a year.

On the mask I'm thinking I'll go nasal pillow over nasal. Just seems like it would be better.

Agree with mts. ResMed. Been on one for about 20 years. I used to travel a lot. I would just take the one I had. Now, I have an old one. The humidifier doesn't work and I just take that traveling now. Not as comfortable but not a big deal.

Some advice:
Stick with it. Gonna suck until you do. Regardless, you will still get better sleep. I would wake up and fiddle with it and think I was getting crappy sleep. But, I wasn't falling asleep during the day. I figure I wasn't fully waking up before I had it but I was getting really crappy sleep.

Make sure you have a humidifier with it (Never seen a ResMed without one). Do not use tap water. Use distilled. If the water level gets too low, you will end up getting gassed with chlorine if you use tap.

I'm a side/back sleeper. Now, pretty much only on my back - due to my shoulder, not cpap. I tried different pillows. For me, they were a waste of money. To add color, I didn't try a pillow until after I was used to it.

Clean it periodically. I wouldn't waste my money on all the cleaning gadgets and products. I use vineger (hard water) if there is a calcium build up. I use hydrogen peroxide about once every two weeks to kill the red algea you will get if you ignore it.

Never sleep, even a nap without

There are only a couple of brands. Resmed is probably most common new machine. Most people like nasal pillows as a mask. But a V-com device and put it between the hose and mask. Later this year, KPAP devices (Kairos PAP) will be available. Much more tolerable than standard PAP machines. But don't wait for them.

ResMed AirMini. Much smaller than the "regular" machines and all of the benefits of a humidifier without having to worry about distilled water. About the size of a book and much easier to travel with.

Been using my ResMed for over 10 years. Changed my life.

Use it almost every night, but hate traveling with it. Might have to look into the mini. Notice a huge difference on nights I don't wear it. Plus my wife will wake me up if I don't as the lack of breathing scares her.

I use a full face mask. Found with just the nose, my mouth would open and I would be like a dragon with the air coming out.

Has Hoosegow said stick with it. It takes a while to get use to it and to find the right mask. I use the nasal mask and my wife uses the pillows.

The mini was close to what I paid for the full sized Air Sense 11 but it makes life so much easier while traveling…

ETA: If I could only buy one it would be the mini. Only question would be if it would be able to hold up being used daily like the full size models??

Makes sense. I don't travel like I used to. I just throw my old one in my suitcase or backpack now.

I have the ResMed Airsense 11 and it is fantastic. I camp and travel with it all the time. I'll get the mini one if I have extra in my FSA one year, but it isn't a high priority. Would be nicer to travel with, but I never sleep without it, so I just carry the big one everywhere.

I have the USB-C power cord for traveling and camping: https://amzn.to/49Ks8zW

I also have the 12V power cord as backup: https://amzn.to/4biVpEr

The 12V uses less power than the standard 110v plug and the USB-C uses less power than the 12V.

I have multiple items in the Ecoflow battery ecosystem, so my battery powered stuff is their brand.

When I camp, I use the EcoFlow Trail 300: https://amzn.to/4qEiLcj

The trail is nice, because you can use the USB-C or the 12V. I can get two full nights out of the 12V and three full nights out of the USB-C. The Trail 300 does not have a 110v plug and doesn't have bluetooth or wifi. It is just 12V and USB, so it stays in a smaller form factor and doesn't drain as easily. There is also a trail 200, which has just under 200 watt/hours, but doesn't have 12V.

For flying, I use the EcoFlow Rapid Power Bank: https://amzn.to/3ZvvS3H

This is 25000mAh or just under 100 watt/hours, which is the max you can take on a plane. I can get over 8 hours on this and I can use the ResMed Airsense 11 on the plane with it. You need a battery pack that can output over 60w and at ramp up it can peak even higher than that, so I use one that can output 100w.

To get the most efficient, you need to turn off the humidifier and use the regular hose, not the heated hose. I use the side cover instead of the water reservoir : https://www.thecpapshop.com/resmed-airsensetm11-cpap-end-cap-side-cover Slimline (non-heated) tubing: https://www.thecpapshop.com/slimline-tubing-for-resmed-s9-cpap-machines

Let me know if you have any questions!

Nailed it on the head. I swear by my AirSense 11. I tell people it's saved my life and my marriage. I take it everywhere.

Everything he said but the water. I have a nasal mask and do not use water. Never have an issue and none of the algae. I started with a full face mask and water was a must. Once going to nasal only, its not a issue.

Received resmed 11 yesterday. Tried it last night. I kept it on for 45 minutes or so. Couldn't fall asleep with it on. Will try again tonight. Learning process.

Just received the Luna G3 from ReactHealth.

Trying nasal pillows first but have a secondary hybrid if I don't like it.

I also just got the Luna G3 with nasal mask, but I'm gonna have to get a full face mask . After an injury and resulting sinus rebuild about 40 years ago, I breathe mostly out my mouth, and the nasal mask makes it difficult to breathe. I also prefer to sleep on my back because side sleeping hurts my shoulders.

Two weeks in. Nasal pillow mask. Still getting used to it. Woke up in middle of night then was able to go back to sleep. Before machine I would have to watch a movie to get back to sleep.
