Wondering the benefits of laser vs. traditional.

Both types replace the lens, right? I understand you can get a multi-focal lense with traditional. If so, what is the extra benefit of laser? Is it just more exact? Is traditional surgery correctible if there are problems with the lens?

Trying to determine if the extra cost of laser is worth it. Also, if I should get a multi-focal lens to reduce need for "readers" or other glasses, and how much more I should expect to pay for that.

Any help is appreciated!

For people with normal cataracts the laser is typically unnecessary in my opinion. The main benefit is for people with advanced cataracts. The laser can help with astigmatism by creating extra incisions called LRIs but those can be done manually as well. The main difference in visual outcomes typically has to do with the type of lens you choose and if the surgeon nails the lens calculation. If there is a cheaper option to not do laser but to have them use "ORA" or a similar technology during surgery I'd pick that one instead. Many times these are marketed as "Smart vision" or something similar sounding. The Cadillac package which is the multifocal lenses is typically around 10-12k for both eyes. Where are you located roughly?
