I personally never choose to watch these kinds of shows, and if I end up seeing any bits and pieces of them, I tend to laugh and call bull.

But it can make for fun discussions......so experts.....discuss!!!

Yep. My father in law falls for dang near everyone of them: hook, line, and sinker!

Just about every year, he'll pick up on these things and argue until he's blue in the face that what he saw, or was told, is true. It's sad really. I don't argue with him anymore, I let him spout it, make his statements, then we move on to talking about other things.

We had such a thread on this forum as well but it didn't go far, it is just too absurd to give it serious discussion. Now Kennedy Assasination threads can go on and on and on and....

It was Brazil according to this 2016 article in The Express ... (which includes a photo of an old Adolf with his Brazilian sweetie) ...

Quote:

The evil dictator fled to Paraguay, via Argentina, before settling in a small town in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, according to a shocking book.

Hitler is said to have used the assumed name of Adolf Leipzig and was known to the 12,000 locals in Nossa Senhora do Livramento as "the Old German".

-snip-

Simoni Renee Guerreiro Dias, who wrote Hitler in Brazil - His Life and His Death, claims he was in the area hunting for buried treasure using a map given to him by friends withing the Vatican.

She insists that Hitler was using his lover Cutinga to hide his true identity as a vile Aryan supremacist.

Simoni, a Brazilian jew, refuses to accept that the Fuhrer shot himself in his Berlin bunker on April 30 1945. She is demanding that Leipzig's remains be exhumed and his DNA tested tested against living relatives of Hitler.

She told local journalists: "I just laughed at first, I thought it was a joke. Today I'm convinced it is true and Adolf Hitler didn't end up here by chance."

Simoni spent two years in the small town near the Bolivian border, which was founded during an 18th century gold rush, investigating her oddball theory.

She has linked the Fuhrer's alleged arrival in the area to a Vatican offer of ownership rights over buried Jesuit treasure in a cave near his adopted home.

And she claims that he chose the surname of Leipzig because it was the birthplace of Hitler's favourite composer, Bach.

Her suspicions about Adolf Leipzig increased after she Photoshopped a moustache onto the grainy picture she obtained of him and compared it to photos of the Nazi leader.

According to Simoni, an unidentified Polish nun recognised an elderly man due to have an op at a hospital in Cuiaba in the early eighties as Hitler and demanded he leave - but was reprimanded by a superior who claimed he was there on Vatican orders.

Conspiracy theorists have long argued Hitler escaped from Germany and fled to south America, following fellow Nazis Adolf Eichmann and Josef Mengele.

This theory became the centre of a fresh row last year when two British authors were accused of plagiarism by a journalist in Argentina.

Gerrard Williams and Simon Dunstan claimed in a 2011 book Grey Wolf: The Escape of Adolf Hitler, that the Fuhrer fled with his mistress Eva Braun to Patagonia and had two daughters before dying in 1962 aged 73.

The book was later made into a documentary film. Argentine journalist accused the British pair of using his research to substantiate claims made in the book, a charge Williams and Dunstan denied.

The claims about Hitler's life in Argentina were ridiculed by historian Guy Walters, who described them as "2,000 per cent rubbish" when the book came out.

He added: "It's an absolute disgrace. There's no substance to it at all. It appeals to the deluded fantasies of conspiracy theorists and has no place whatsoever in historical research."

I thought the theory was that Hitler went to the German base in Antarctica and then was flown to the base on the far side (or dark side if you prefer) of the moon on a prototype flying saucer that the Germans were working on at the end of WWII. Powered by the anti gravity bell engine I saw on the history channel.

Which is why NASA stopped the moon landings and has hushed up all the later moon landings.

But what do I know about all those "facts".

Yep - sounds about right for the history channel. That or aliens... who are we kidding, if it was played on the history channel there has to be an alien hook.

The Spear of Longinus or The Spear of Destiny as it's sometimes called is said to exist. Several locales are mentioned as to its present home. Which is the "real" Spear of Destiny?

I believe the one purported to be in American custody has been proven to at least be a medieval relic hasn't it? That was composites out of several other pieces?

By all accounts that spear is something that was built out of "relics" from the crusades, though any provenance before it appeared in Europe is completely unknown.

I have not watched this show. Quit watching the History Channel years ago when they decided not to honor their name and show actual history.

I admit it is a neat idea that Hitler escaped the bunker and lived out his life in South America. Could it have happened? Sure. Other Nazis did the same. But I choose to believe the evidence that everyone has seen for years in that he killed himself in the bunker, and his body was subsequently burned and the Russians then exhumed his remains from the shallow grave and have some of his bones back in Moscow.

Other Nazis made it to South America -- Mengele and Sepp Dietrich two of the more prominent -- but I can't think of any who were in the Bunker in the final days who did. Hanna Reisch (sp) and a few others were there close to (but not at) the end and some adjutants and functionaries who were survived but went through Russian imprisonment.

Bormann would have been a big fish who slipped the net, but it has been established that the was killed in the attempted breakout.

Had Hitler made it to Argentina or anywhere else his psychological makeup (assuming he was still in control of his thoughts and actions), I am sure, would not have allowed him to submerge into the grey fabric of mankind. It would not -- could not -- have remained secret.

Two million dollars for finding one gold coin. I watch Oak Island just to see what they will allege next. I guess that if you can find something that will get you an audience, you can make more than two million dollars for your show.

Right. And that evidence is better than is sometimes realized, because we only get bits and pieces of it described. But a few books that have put out the range of documentation have appeared and I have spent some time collating them.

Jickyjack1 also touched on another crucial point -- Hitler's psychological make-up pretty much rules out any escape along these lines. The suicide of Goebbels is the real follow-up proof. Hitler was everything to him. It tends to confirm Hitler's own death. There really is not much reason to doubt that Hitler committed suicide on April 30 in the circumstances that have come down to us. The only real question is how much of the finding of remains story may have been "padded". Remains were definitely found, but there is room for challenge on specifics.

The one to wonder about, who absolutely did have a "vacate the scene" mentality, was Martin Bormann. Its true remains identified as his were found where they should have been in 1972 near the Lehter railway station, but for those with stuff-of-a-novel mindsets, its plausible enough to see how that would not disprove that he had originally escaped.

I watched a few minutes of the show this week. They were inspecting a house in Argentina that would have made the PERFECT hiding place because it had an attic and a store room. The rest of it was a sub-titled interview with some old Argentine general discussing his preferred treatment of traitors, which had nothing at all to do with the main theme of the show.

The best part of the show is when they bring in "ex-CIA agent" for hire Bob Baer, who will say anything to any camera on any network for the right price.

" ... because it had an attic and a store room".

If it had had a basement, too, they could have started another Reich.

I saw one segment where they were on a motorboat in a little cove. One guy pointed to the shore and said that would be the perfect place for a machine gun nest to cover the whole approach and he felt scared right now.

Admittedly, I haven't watched an entire episode, but I enjoy some of the absurdity in small bites.

History Channel is really putting a lot of garbage out there like this. Claiming to have solved major historical mysteries and such. They are mostly filled with unsubstantiated rumors or attention ****** looking to create a story. The Alcatraz Escape and DB Cooper ones are the ones that come to mind first.

If you wana create shows like this then fine...but please quit using shoddy sources and witnesses and quit gearing the entire show to fit the entertainment narrative you're trying to push.
