I learned today about the hoodoo war fought in mason county.

Most interesting fact is Johnny Ringo was a major participant. He was also arrested in burnet for discharging a firearm.

Anyone have good reading matetial about this fight?

The book mentioned is very interesting, especially if you know much about Mason County. As you drive around you see a lot of roads etc matching names from the book. The same author also wrote a bio of Ringo that is a good read. Doesnt paint the same picture as the Wyatt Earp movies. Really it shows Earp in a completely different light.

Mason County "Hoo Doo" war by David Johnson is a good place to start.

I think its in Johnson's book, but the description when Cooley, the Ranger killed the deputy Worley was especially red-ass

Mason has a lot of cool stuff to visit - lots of history - worth a stop if you're in the area
