I just learned something while looking up another topic about Arlington. There is a Confederate section. Over 400 Confederate soldiers are buried there. There is even monument. I would have never thought.

President McKinley allowed them to be buried after the end of the Spanish American War.

"in the spirit of fraternity we should share with you in the care of the graves of Confederate soldiers. Sectional feeling no longer holds back the love we feel for each other. The old flag again waves over us in peace with new glories."

Welp, not for long once the public finds out.

Also you or someone else May know, but can you walk up to a particular grave in Arlington like you do when you visit a normal cemetery? My great uncle is buried there and I'd like to get a picture of the grave next year when I visit for some family members.

Yes and it is very easy to find particular individuals online. Find a Grave It gives you the section and the location of the grave.

My dad has always said that my great aunt was buried there. She was a WASP. Several months ago I was looking to see if I could find her with that search engine. She is not there. She died before they allowed WASP to be buried in Arlington. However, I did look up several historical figures that I knew were there.

I know the section and grave number and in 2017 was even at the section he was buried in, but was very apprehensive about walking around on the grass to find the particular grave. I didn't see anyone else doing it and couldn't find anyone to ask so I decided that discretion was the best policy.

I could spend all day at Arlington again. Loved the Lee home experience, and especially exploring around that area. One of the most intriguing and awe inspiring places in America.

over the Years we've gone like 4 times to Arlington
My Wife always buys a bunch of yellow roses - My Uncle Buddy (Grandpas brother) from WWI gets one, Audie Murphy and the Kennedys get some and the last two time we added the Space Shuttles to the list

The confederate headstones are pointed, not rounded like the normal VA headstone.

I heard it was because no one could sit on them..........

You are also allowed to go the the desk in the visitor center (or the bus ticket desk) tell them you want to visit a grave and they have a bus that will take you right to the site. In the old days they would let you drive in with a temp pass, but now unless you have a permanent pass you can't drive in but the bus will now take you there.

I have read that there may be a Confederate or two in there.

This is the Confederate Monument.

Sorry, I am getting black "X" on my end.
