I nearly titled the thread sting jockey does string jockey things.

My AIT was 5 weeks and 3 days. 4 1/2 of those weeks were learning how to sweep the motor pool. Doesn't take much time to learn to pull a string on command.

As a cadet I got to do the CTLT program. We went to camp Shelby Mississippi. I got the fire the 8 inch self-propelled howitzers. But I still went infantry.

Nothing beats dropping 155mm rounds on bad dudes. Glad to say I got to do that. Maybe when I'm 100 years old I'll get to pull lanyard on whatever artillery systems were firing. Also neat that in 2020 that we still pull a string to fire our howitzers. "Pull string, gun go boom, get cookie". We 13Bs weren't the smartest of the bunch.

Yes, ya'll were the cool dudes on the FOB even with the SF/ODA's there.
Ya'll made Navy Officers from the PRT day. They were like kids in a candy store when they got to pull the string. and I was very jealous. You Red Legs never let me shoot. The SecFor guys? All the M19 and M240 and M2 from the MRAP turrets I could handle. They wanted to make sure I knew what to do "just in case".

BTW Sunday was the 10 year anniversary of the famous ABAD Flight Line Fire.
