Has something like today's event ever happened before? I know the Whitehouse was burned by the Brits in the War of 1812, and I know the security of the capital building used to be much more lax (nonexistent), but has there ever been a large volume of people storm the Capital before, break some things, etc?

(And I don't mean the one or two random people that work their way through security for a confirmation hearing scream fest in the back row)

While not at the capital, the shooting of congressmen at the baseball game seems like a much bigger attack on our government than yesterday.

There's no precedent for armed domestic terrorists overwhelming law enforcement and breaking into the capitol to attack the sitting congressand veep, on direct encouragement of the president.

No one was armed (or used them on the protestors side) and you are reading their minds as to their intent, so unless you were one of them, you are speculating and making **** up.

The event I posted about in September 2018 wad encouraged by the Democratic Socialist Party and its leadership in Congress to take place while congress was holding confirmation hearings. They were NEVER disavowed by the current president elect. Nor has any of the leadership ever apologized for inciting such protest with bogus evidence and witnesses.

Many reports of rioters using tazers and mace. The many flag poles they were carrying were used as weapons to break and enter and push back police. While not the same thing as carrying and/or using guns. Carrying and using weapons is still considered being armed.

Does intent even matter? They were an armed mob of thousands (maybe hundreds?) that stormed the Capitol while both houses were inside. They tried to break into Congress floor while representatives were on the floor. They broke and entered, caused distruction and stole while inside. All on Federal property.
It's pretty clear by the shirts, hats, flags, etc that most were wearing who they support, and that person never told them to stop.

I believe what you're referring to is PR nationals shooting at the Blair House during Truman's administration. Truman was in the Blair House at the time as the WH was under renovation. One police officer was killed along with one of the PR shooters. I believe there were two of them.

Something I haven't seen much of yet was the potential information security breach that happened. All it would take was one foreign agent in disguise in that mob who got access to a Senator's office. Every piece of IT equipment and infrastructure in the Capitol should be inspected and replaced.

1950: Puerto Rican Nationalists attack Blair House while President Harry Truman was living there during White House renovations. One policeman killed, one terrorist killed. The other got life in prison.

1954: Four Puerto Rican nationalists bring handguns into the House chamber, and shoot it up during a session, seriously wounding five people. Four terrorists got life in prison.

1979: Jimmy Carter releases all 5 terrorists to a hero's welcome in PR.
