I believe that before the war, Truman said in reference to the Germans and Soviets something to the effect of we should help whoever needed it most and when the other needed it more, we should help them instead.

In the Last Lion third volume, there was the mention of Polish officers being massacred by the Soviets. Roosevelt and Churchill had proof but kept it under wraps, because they needed the Red Army.

The Katyn Massacre. 20K Polish officers and intellectuals the Soviets feared could lead an uprising/resistance against them. Murdered in 1940 while half of Poland was still under Russkie occupation

There is a Polish film about this too called "Katyn".

There is a Polish film about this too called "Katyn".
That part of Poland is now part of Belarus. Visited the site on a trip to Minsk years ago. With Lukashenko as a dictator, the locals still say it was the Germans and the west is just trying to make the Soviets look bad.
