Looking for books about the Aztecs. I do better with narrative nonfiction than textbook style history, but I understand that's probably hard to come by for this topic.
Fehrenbach's history of Mexico Fire and Blood covers them well in about the first 20% of that book. But you could say it covers them throughout as their descendants became the creoles, peasants and peons of New Spain and then Mexico.
While not a book, I listened to this podcast awhile back and enjoyed it. Daniele Bolelli, HIstory on Fire. About Cortez conquest of Mexico and the Aztecs. I think you have to pay to listen to it now, but I found it interesting. You have to be able to get past his thick Italian accent.
