My grandpa served on that ship in WWII. It was sunk as a target ship in 1982 off the coast of California. If it is at a depth that is divable, I've always had it on my bucket list to dive.

How do I find out where it is or what depth it's at?

I don't think you will be able to dive for this one I am afraid - I couldn't find the coordinates but here is a picture of a submarine using the ship as target practice in its last days. If there is a submarine I would assume it's beyond diving depth.

The anchor gave me hope. If it's more than one shot deep than not divable. If it were divable, I'd think someone would have done it and wrote about it online.

Yeah, I think they blasted harpoon missiles at her before a sub finally finished it off.



It is weird there is no searchable database I guess for wreck locations where clearly the USN anyway knows where they are.
