I recently went to a ranch that had two concrete markers that are said to show where Santa Anna camped on his way to the Alamo. The ranch is near Frio Town in Frio county. All of the books/ info I can find say he camped at the Presidio crossing of the Frio. This is about five miles from that crossing on a creek. I am trying to find some info to corroborate the rancher's story. Any ideas out there? Pic of markers below.

TIA

Just a theory but his army was big enough that they would need to spread out some in camp for all the horse and mules to have enough grass to eat.

I guess someone told you that's what the markers were for.

Because I don't get anything Santa Anna related from those scratchings.

Yes, that's the story. Just trying to find something to back it up.

Do you have any translation of the markings? All I get is 1945, which I assume is when they made the marker

Unfortunately, no. I won't be able to interview owners until the 17th. Hope to get more insight then as it was in the same family for several generations.
