Studying the country and how we went from barter and trade to a time for money society led me to the idea for Who Killed the American Dream.

When this country was founded the goal was freedom and independence. When the industrial age came the need for employees grew.

To get more employees they're gonna have to offer the people of America something to get them to give up some of their freedom and their dreams to help fulfill the needs of the corporations.

This is how the American dream started. When you were farmer you didn't have much and you were dependent on the seasons for your survival and your body would wear down and eventually you can no longer work therefore you cannot longer survive.

The American dream offered you a chance to you give a set amount of work for a set amount of time for a set amount of pay. After you've done that you can retire and receive an income for life and be taken care of and live a life you want on your terms.

This transferred the risk to the corporations and gave a guarantee to the workers. Sounds good right?

When you trade risk for a guarantee you give up the potential upside. This caused people to quit dreaming of their own opportunities, to stop taking risk and become obedient middle-class soldiers.

It became so American that millions of families raised their children with the idea, go to school make good grades so you can get a good job and have a life of your own. The problem was they in a majority of the cases were taking a guarantee to build someone else's dream.

I do not believe the American dream is dead and I do believe it is a simple as following the ABC's laid out for anyone to follow. There's nothing new or groundbreaking in this book but if you follow its concepts you will be able to achieve anything you want to achieve.

It is not easy but the plan is simple.

The demise of the American Dream started when the federal government started spending more money than it actually takes in...In my estimation that was back in the 30's and has gotten progressively worse since then. I understand that under war time that you need to do what you need to do, but you know, you cant buy a 10cent candy bar when all you have is a nickel.
Peace for Ukraine!

I wouldn't say corporations started the American dream or that agriculture is excluded. Owning your own business might be closer to the American Dream than slaving for a corporation. Working for a corporation is more akin to the agriculture description you give. The American dream of agriculture is to own your land and put it to the use you want and not working for the man as a slave, peon or serf.
