Battle of Chickamauga September 19-20, 1863. Texas Brigade was there too!

I visited the battlefield last year and spent most of a day there. It is very good. Another "Yikes" moment for the Union Army.

The Fuller Gun Collection in the VC is something to see also.

Two of my gx3 grandfathers were there with Ohio regiments. Beautiful battlefield. Up there with Antietam for scenery (and butchery).

Visited briefly last year and read up a little. This was one confusing battle. More like a giant free for all

The civil war podcast just started the story arch on Chickamauga. They are 5 episodes in on the battle and would expect them to get to 20 at least. I've been listening for years and enjoy it.

Mainly because of the terrain and vegetation. Command structure had very little visibility except for what was right in front of them. The "breakthrough" on the second day was basically by accident. Just the same old assault that had been taking place and discovered there was no one there.

Horseshoe Ridge was another one of those classic "Let see how many of your own men we can kill" moments.

I got to see all of the battlefields of this campaign last year. Basically right down I-75.
