I would guess they used GPS to guide mowers. Though I think I've read that some mazes are created by GPS equipped planters, that hold or drop seed as needed.

Side note, the name shouldn't be 'corn maze'. Should be 'maize maze'.

There's a company called Mazeplay that specializes in designing corn mazes. They design the maze in a computer program and then upload it to your planter. All you have to do is drive through the field like you would when you are normally planting. As you are planting, It turns each row of the planter on and off according to the design.

My wife and I are actually planning on going out to this maze this weekend depending on the weather. It is four mazes in one. The longest being 4 miles.

Fun fact - to get through a maze if you keep your right hand on the "wall" you will always get out. You may go to a bunch of dead end but just keep your right hand on the wall.
