This music box was sent to my Granny sometime in the 1940's, I think from a cousin of hers who served in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

My sister is now in possession of the music box, and she has been trying to identify the song that plays when you open the lid.

Can anyone help us identify this song?

There is a video file and a couple of photos from the "works" inside. We think the number 15 on the "spool" of the music box probably identifies the song for the manufacturer.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I've been trying to figure it out. No luck on the song but did find out the music box's are post war production. Maybe your cousin was on occupation duty in Japan?

Very possibly. I am wondering if the song was actually written just for music boxes, similar to how songs are written specifically for video games.

It sounded so familiar so I sent to the family text. My mom, who is from Taiwan and had just visited recently, said it was the song the garbage trucks played when they drove through for you to bring out your trash. Googled "Taiwan trash song" and found "The Maiden's Prayer." Whoop!
