PFC Luther Marney Tillery: Tillery was a member of Headquarters Company, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, a part of the 82d Airborne Division. He participated in parachute jumps during the Normandy and Holland invasions and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

He is standing up in this image;

No way he was Omaha Beach unless he was misdropped.

RE: ABATTBQ87 post

Lt. Koenig trained to jump but for whatever reason, he and his platoon were re-directed not to jump but to land on shore from an LCI.

From his obituary: Vic graduated from Texas A&M University in 1941, where he was a member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie band. He was first and foremost always an Aggie.

Upon graduation, he served his country honorably as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne. He was part of the Normandy invasion on June 6, 1944, and earned a Purple Heart.

The 101st landed on UTAH beach

The 101st landed behind UTAH beach, not on it. Unless they had a bad drop.

Actually, both American airborne divisions landed behind Utah, the 82nd to the WSW and the 10st to the SSW.

Ive visited almost every drop zone in Normandy, and read over 25 books on DDay operations.

The guy said his uncle landed at Omaha Beach, I said the 101st landed at Utah Beach, which is 100% correct as The D-Day plan called for the 327th GIR to conduct amphibious landings at Utah Beach and move inland to link up with the airborne regiments that had parachuted into France early D-Day morning. The initial elements of the Regiment began landing in France on 6 June; all elements were ashore by the evening of D +1 and linked up near Ste. Marie-du-Mont. On D+2 the attached 1st Battalion, 401st GIR, saw action near St. Come-du-Mont and at the La Barquette Locks.

And in my research of Aggies KIA in WWII I have identified 3 that were part of the 327th, 2 killed in Normandy and 1 died in Belgium from wounds suffered Christmas Day 1944 close to Bastogne
