Howdy,

The Mid-South A&M Club would like to invite you to join us next weekend for the following events prior to the football game at Ole Miss:

Friday evening: Aggie happy hour at Silky O’Sullivan’s on Beale Street in Memphis

Friday night: Midnight yell at Handy Park on Beale Street in Memphis

Saturday afternoon: All-Aggie tailgate just north of Swayze Field (the baseball stadium) on the Ole Miss campus in Oxford. This is not in the grove, but is close enough that you can check out the grove before or after visiting our tailgate. We will begin serving food at 4:00 and there will be plenty, so come hungry. The yell leaders will be visiting starting at 5:00 and we'll have yell practice at 5:30.

For the details about all three events and a link to important information about parking in Oxford, check out our website: http://midsouthaggies.wordpress.com/

BTHO Ole Miss!

Mid-South A&M Club President

Yeah, Franchione too.

It's a nickname (based on my last name) that I got long before coming to A&M, but I also answer to "Eggie."

The parking rules at Ole Miss have changed this year. The university sold annual parking passes for all spots on campus, so vehicles without a pass will not be allowed on campus except to unload tailgating supplies until 2 hours before the game or until pedestrian traffic becomes "too heavy."

The best option will be to park in one of the off-campus locations and ride a shuttle to campus. Maps and additional info can be found here: http://www.olemisssports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/traffic-shuttle.html and here: http://www.oxfordms.net/visitors/gameday-shuttle-service.html

Parking at the Activities Center (400 Price Street), Middle School (499 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive) and Conference Center (102 Ed Perry Blvd.) is free with shuttle service beginning at 4:30 for $5 round trip per person. These are the best options for getting to our tailgate, which is just north of the baseball stadium.

UPDATE: See post on Page 2 of this thread for changes announced on Wed., Oct. 9.

I was wondering about drinking laws on campus. Also, can my 20 year old son partake if I am with him?

I found the alcohol rules and they say there is no drinking for people under 21: http://www.olemisssports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/gameday-thegrove.html

Someone from Ole Miss posted this on another thread...

On the drinking, two things:

1. Keep it in a cup. Open containers are not allowed--keep bottles and cans stowed unless you're pouring. They're fairly liberal about this, but don't flaunt it.

2. Stay in control. If you're sloppy and falling over or starting fights, you'll probably get noticed. There'll be plenty of drinking, but it's still a family show.

For those traveling to Memphis via Little Rock:

Road construction on I-40 at Forrest City. Both east and west bound are closed to one lane. Last weekend it was very slow going west. Both lanes expected to be backed up next weekend. The Arkansas Highway Dept. recommends the following detour:

From I-40 eastbound, take Exit 233 to Palestine. Get on Hwy 70 and head east. Get back on in Widener at mile marker 249.

I don't know about your second question, but someone from Ole Miss posted this on another thread...

Eggs,

Just so I'm clear on this, I can roll a cooler around full of beer and just pour it into a solo cup and I should be okay? Is tha5 right?

4 LOKO: I think that's correct. Just don't leave your cooler unattended. Alcohol rules are here: http://www.olemisssports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/gameday-thegrove.html

ryan: I posted parking info above. Any of the off-campus lots w/ a $5 shuttle ride seem good to me.

Chris,

Are you the guys who put on the tailgate last year at Mississippi State?

You can leave it at our tailgate. We will lower our pop-up tents over our supplies. Any leftover beer COULD get confiscated, but maybe not if it's well covered.

The Jackson Avenue Center and the Whirlpool lot will have shuttles beginning at 5:30 AM, but do not start postgame transportation until 1 hour after the game. There may be spots open on the square early in the day. The middle school is the nearest free lot, so I'll probably park there and walk.

I found the following on this site: http://www.olemisssports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/parking-questions.html
RVs visiting campus without RV parking are encouraged to seek the following options:

a. Purchase individual game RV parking by clicking on the link (there's no link, so you may need to call the university)
b. Seek off-campus RV parking
c. Park at the intramural fields on a first come, first served basis. The Intramural fields will be open to RV parking and will open Friday at 3:00 pm.

No, that was MSU in conjunction with the A&M club(s) in Jackson and/or Starkville.

To buy an RV pass, click the link to purchase football tickets. One of the links is to purchase an RV pass. $100.00. Can enter Friday at 3pm. It's in the Whirlpool RV lot.

Thanks for the info Eggs. My daughter is a rebel, so a bunch of my Aggie buddies are going for the game. We will try to make to the tailgate after visiting her sorority's tent in the grove.

Heard a ton of people complained about the shuttle system. Long lines, disorganized, etc. on the last home game.

Something to keep in mind. We're getting dropped off and walking to a pick up site afterwards but they also have pre-purchased guarantee parking. It's a cool $129 for that privilege which made a limo look like a better option.

We have a new parking system on campus and new shuttle services, some free and some $5, the problem is this is just out second home game of the year so far and I'm not sure how many kinks have been worked out yet. It didn't go so well the first game
