How long do you want to ignore this user?

Have no idea what our QB room will look like next year, and hope there's not too much speculation on this thread, but just wanted to comment on the ball he throws. I heard he had a big arm, maybe strongest of the 2024 class.

While he throws some passes 50 yards off his back foot, what impressed me most was that he throws VERY "catchable" balls, like a Tom Brady. Maybe being from Mass. he studied him alot!

He leads his receivers and throws it away from the defender, and puts just the right amount of loft on it to make it safe, but catchable. He can throw the occasional bullet in tight traffic apparently, but the majority of these highlights seemed to be of the former variety.

Anyhow, excited to have him on board in Aggieland.

oops. meant to post the video:

I am hoping that we get to see him in mop up time in a later season game.

If he doesn't have legs I doubt he works out in Klein's system.
Henderson might though.

Throws a really high arching deep ball - difficult for defenders to get to. Moves well in the pocket, but doesn't look like much of a threat running the ball.

What high school did he go to? We had larger visitor crowds at my son's junior high games.

It's in Massachusetts. The Hun School. Famous for developing field leaders!

Sad to think how Klein somehow missed that when they battled to keep his commitment during the end of recruiting season.

Transition classes for new coaches never really pan out much. I doubt we would want to run off a talented QB like that regardless of system, especially when we need the numbers.

It's going to be
QB1 Reed
QB2 Longstreet

Nothing else really matters unless there's an injury

Just because you don't like it doesn't make it bad. Don't expect to see a bunch of pocket passers in Klein's offense.

This. I don't know why people think that modern day OC's have singular systems for singular type of players. They have mulit-faceted systems that they customize for the players they have. Otherwise they would not be allowed a seat at the table as an OC in a D1 program.

OC's have preferences for the skillsets of their QB's that can thrive in the type of offense they like to run. It's no secret that Klein prefers a dual threat over a pocket passer. This is nothing new.

This. It seems a lot of the zoo doesn't realize the type of QB Klein prefers to run his offense, and Longstreet is the epitome of it.

It is the Hun School so all puns are welcome. But it's in New Jersey not Massachusetts. Not sure if that's better or worse.

I thought that after the Florida game, I looked up Miles and he is your prototypical pro-style QB. If Reed ends up killing it in Klein's offense I think there is a good chance we lose Miles along as a good possibility of losing CW. I think Miles and CW are great fits for a pro style offense and Klein may not have the ability at this time to change his scheme to fit someone whose last option is to run the ball.

Very small sample but the offense ran so much smoother with a true dual threat QB like Reed than it did with CW.

You're missing my point. Yes, he has a preference, but OC's always don't have the luxury of having the prototype player they want. So they adapt based on the skill set available. Collin Klein has clearly stated this in the past. Adapt to the player type available. If he is not able to do that, then you can't be successful as this level. His actual philosophy is to play fast and maximize the opportunities, and is very Petrino like in that he wants to get the ball in the play makers hands. Often QBs are the best athletes so that is why he puts such an emphasis on them. But again you cant always account to that scenario so you have to be diverse enough with your schemes to utilize the strengths available to you.
