...until Ags decide to spend money elsewhere. Aggie athletics rakes in cash with mediocre results, so why would they desire to fundamentally change? Instead of wasting money on overpriced tickets and NIL, spend money on something other than the programs here until they get their act together.

You would think, but yet people still line up to buy merch and tickets and feel like they are really contributing with their little NIL payments....

Or if you're this bent out of shape about it, just quit watching Aggie sports.

Seems the easiest solution for you.

You misunderstand. I'm not bent out of shape. I find it funny that people get super aggravated about other people playing sports. I just don't see the point in throwing more money at it unless there is fundamental change.

Going to suck even worse if we don't spend money. Have some common sense.

So, common sense says to keep throwing money and getting the same results?

  • We were visionaries with NIL, we had the number 1 Class in the country.
  • We paid players more, period
  • We have some of the best facilities, locker rooms, weight rooms, in all the country
  • We spent 450 Million and created one of the best football stadiums in the country
  • We dropped 75 million dollars on a coach with a natty
  • We built a new softball field
  • We built an indoor and outdoor track stadium
  • We upgraded the Baseball stadium
  • We upgraded spence park
  • We spent money and got a baseball coach, who was a game a way from a natty.

Other than a new basketball arena, where exactly did we not spend money?

We have deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep Pockets.

But for some reason, we are CURSED beyond all be damn!!!! The administration did everything right. Coaches turned out to be losers!

We need to spend the same amount of money our direct competition spends on denigrating us over all media. Fight fire with fire. They will slow their BS if we show we are willing to go there.

Then what do you suggest in detail specifically that they do.

And I didn't realize that people can spend their money the way they want.

100%. The clowns making decisions will never feel any heat to change unless the money quits coming in.

I disagree. This school and their piss poor results need a wake up call from the fans. Aggies need to quit paying for sorry programs that don't win. It might be the only thing that wakes those clowns up that make decisions.

It takes truly staggering intellect to look at a situation where more money equals more success, and believe you are going to improve results by denying money.

My tomato plants didn't make as many tomatoes as I want, so I'm going to stop watering and fertilizing them until they yield better.

Truly staggering intellect!

There's seemingly no amount of money that can affect W/L in Aggieland. I'm predicting by the end of this year, you will see folks finding other things to do on Saturdays. I'm not sure this isn't a 6-6, or worse team this year. This is staring Fran type attendance numbers right in the face, probably not next year. But with a soon to be lame duck coach, coming off a bad year, it's gonna be crickets.

I think Fran affected the local economy in a real, real bad way. And I think Elko is gonna be on his heals pretty quick.

What have the decision makers done with vast amounts of money? Sometimes it takes some pain to force change. The decision makers need to be run out of town on a rail for their complete and utter failure. They have had so much money to work with over the last number of years, and they have squandered it through terrible coaching hires and stupid contract decisions. Until the decision makers are gotten rid of, nothing will change. Not showing up is the only power that fans have. I guarantee that a half empty Kyle Field with a ton of unsold tickets would have A&M panicking and probably force them to start doing things differently.

It's hilarious that someone would have a TexAgs account with over 5000 posts, create a thread like this, and then use this minimizing language to act like you are somehow above it all. You are down here in the muck with the rest of us, my friend. I hate to break it to you

You could also argue that it takes an incredibly strong draft of maroon koolaid to think throwing even more money at Aggie athletics is going to somehow yield better results. As someone detailed above, the AD has spent a stupid amount of money and it's returned almost nothing in tangible results on the field or court.

The amount of people on this thread alone denigrating the idea that the fans protest with their wallets until the AD shows it's committed to actual wins and not just revenue is exactly why we'll always be Texas 8-4.

Also, let's be real, none of us really want to win anything deep down, the only happy Ag is a miserable Ag lol

This is what pot bangers have said for years. Surprisingly nothing got better…and 90s RC arguably was a bottom of the paucity of fan spend…as Bob Gates and Bill Byrne acknowledged…

It hasn't worked because we haven't hired the right coach. It's as simple as that. Taking away resources and money handcuffs the ability to hire coaches. Until the right coach is found, yes it absolutely should be an exercise of continuing to throw money at it to be able to fire and hire coaches. Jury still out on Elko. I really like him as a guy, and he says all the right things. Need to see some improvement this year, but he's doing all the right things to address the problems so far.

If it doesn't work with Elko, we need money to buy him out and move on to hiring the next guy (and his staff). If you don't have the funds and limit yourself in the hiring process, you just make the already very low odds of an elite level hit on a coach that much lower.

This is all very easy for me to say as someone who doesn't donate money to the athletic department.

So using your logic, we should just shut it all down and spend all the money on academics (i.e. "elsewhere")
1. We've fired every coach we've ever had except for maybe five over the 100+ years of athletics, so we are horrible at choosing coaches
2. We are a .609 winning percentage all time in football
3. We have a losing bowl record
4. We've won zero NCs in MBB BB- the only two other sports that remotely make money
So per you, we need to spend the money elsewhere- not on sports…. Got it!

Because proven coaches are extremely rare, we keep trying for someone to prove it elsewhere and poaching vs finding a hungry, driven coach and giving him or her the reigns. Schloss was the best poach of a proven coach we've had recently and look how that turned out. Ford is working out well so far but idk enough about softball and her history prior to here. Maybe Elko is the guy, time will tell. I think he's giving more of an effort and determined than his predecessor ever was while here.

I won't throw the book at Elko yet but common sense playing calling has to take over. Basketball, nothing has changed nor will it. Baseball, no comment. Just embarrassing. Eventually fan support and money will disappear. People will find better things to use it on.

I don't think we need too much change. We were only a few plays away in the Auburn and tu games from winning one of them which would have had us play for the sec title and possibly make the 12 team
Tournament. Since we were in first place almost all year, the finish was disappointing. But we can get over this hump. Tu didn't win anything despite their easy schedule and invites in football and basketball that were unearned.

Just enjoy the games and we might get there sooner than you think. Without moss going down we would have won the sec last year.

True.

We cannot pick a freaking great coach for the life of us. It is that simple.

We do have solid football, baseball, volleyball, golf and softball coaches.

Are they GREAT? Nope...not until they bring home a natty.

We have two great coaches. One is Track & Field. One is Equestrian. Those sports aren't paying any bills that's for sure!!

Elko still get time to prove it.

Buzz is a very good coach but I don't believe he is a national championship caliber. Buzz doesnt seem to be much of a recruiter and all around talent continues to be our problem. He gets more from his players than anyone in D1....that is for sure. But not gonna win a Natty that way. NBA talent is critical.
