Credit Elko for bringing in missing pieces to the offense to really give Reed all the weapons needed to succeed. Just need to stay healthy this year.

Watch the highlights posted on another thread. Our qbs over throw, under throw, throw poorly to our undefended wrs in practice.

Bad look tonight out of practice. Really bad. We need less hype.

We've literally seen nothing to give us confidence our QB's can make the throws, up to this point. We have the majority of an SEC season and then off season talk from players, coaches, and insiders. All we have are snide comments/remarks from several people mocking the idea that Marcel can't make the throws he needs to.

I'll believe it when I see it. I'm done getting myself overhyped for football seasons. I would love nothing more than for Marcel to come out this season, on time and accurate with his WR corps. With the talent at RB, the success of our passing game will be the determining factor on this offense's success.

Look, I get the negativity. I understand BAS in that we have failed to live up to the hype.
BUT I SWEAR, SOME OF YOU JUST WANT US TO SUCK SO YOU CAN BE MISERABLE AND TELL US ALL "I TOLD YOU SO".

What if, we are good? What if the defense and run game carry us this year? We can win 9-10 games with a ground and pound complimentary, hard-nosed football team and y'all would still complain that we don't score enough.

We are where we are now, let's build something up and not constantly tear it down because we have sucked in the past and always will.
Get out of here with that nonsense. BAS seems into every crack of Kyle and into the culture and then fulfills itself time and time again. If we expected MORE, maybe we would get more... not less.

It's not going to be ground and pound. Maybe we'll average 200 ypg rushing but we are going to throw the ball as well. The run game will set up the pass and then the pass will set up the run game. In today's game you need to be pushing 450-500 ypg of offense on average to
Compete for titles . They didn't bring in the speed they did at wr for blocking.

Totally agree with the general theme of your post .

Kenny Hill destroyed South Carolina on the road to open the 2014 season.

One game is clearly not enough of a data point to extrapolate. One play, even less so.

Zach Calzada looked like a first round QA for chunks of the Bama game he pulled off. Conner had some throws against Miami that had folks that dig in to QBs screaming about his ceiling being insanely high.

We see flashes all the time, but it's been years since we had any sort of consistently above average QB performance.

Perhaps it is just a psychological thing from watching A&M more than other teams, but it certainly feels like other teams roll QBs in that are able to perform while we routinely have QBs come in and look incredibly raw and then make little to no progress.

Seabond, I dont "want us to suck". There have been a few years we have "sucked" though, and I definitely dont want that.

We're just average. I feel we will continue to be "average". To expect anything else than the same results we've had, minus 2 seasons, in the last 25 years is a little unrealistic.

I hope we have an above average season.

By the way, DrewTamu is my Guy. I think he does an Awesome job!

What would be nice to see is Klein calling more play action so the safties have to respect the run, especially with the rb room A&M has. Not only to utilize the speed of the receivers, but to give Reed more openings to throw into. Also, some under center plays on the goal line to help the rb and line. That said I am excited to see what the offense can do this year.

Yup. Many on here may need to realize that Klein is more or less an option running OC/QB coach. That's what he was in college and as OC at KState. That aint gonna magically change.

Lest we all forget the hype for Weigman last year - Heisman sleeper, greatest pure Aggie passer ever, yada, yada, yada. Theh, yeah, Weigman gets messed up in the head, loses confidence and tanks. Hmmmm. Heisman candidate to scrub under Klein?

This offense will be a strong running team that may hit a few jump balls downfield, but will that be enough to go 9-3 or 10-2?

I dont expect Reed or any of the QBs to start carving up
SEC defenses anytime soon. That aint Klein.

I agree to some degree. KSt dominated TOP with the run game but they also mixed in explosive passing plays as well.

Enough to win 9-10+ games ? It will come down to the defense imo. The offense is not built to win shoot outs , it's built to win cage fights

Again, I do understand the sentiment and where BAS comes from.
Thanks for clarifying your position.

But there are some on here that I think do root against the aggies for the sake of BAS. There is too much negativity for that not to be true.

I also agree that I am expecting an above average year and for us to start making noise in the national picture.

I do agree that we need a mix.
We fell off in Nov. When Moss went down because we were no longer effective against an 8 or 9-man box.
You need the pass (or at least the threat of the pass) to open the run and keep them honest.

But I do think this will still be a primarily a run-first offence.
HR potential on the outside, but if we are throwing the ball 40+ times/game then something went wrong.

Agree. The tools to open things up if they stack the box are going to be better this year imo and also we will have better rb depth with any luck.

Hopefully we're looking at a lot more 3rd and 2's than 3rd and 9's . Also it needs to be a bit more of a mystery for the opposing defenses and my belief is it will be.

Seriously. It like none of you all have ever played and practiced sports if you take a few short practice clips and blanket say we suck.

Maybe the coaches had them working on something new and they had not gotten the hang of it yet
Maybe they were off a bit that day or even at the moment and not the whole day.

The best of the best can look like **** at times.

Timing will come around with so many new pieces.

Most of the Out routes looked pretty good. #7 needs to concentrate and squeeze the ball. Otherwise, Miles looks good on the deep ball.

That was a literal jog through drill. Not full speed. And Marcel was 6/8 in that session anyways, with one graded bad pass and one graded questionable pass. Much has been made about that video and it's fairly meaningless

I'm not saying we will be great at throwing the ball. That remains to be seen. But using that one video as evidence is silly

It wasn't even a full speed drill, for that matter. But again, we may very well be mediocre throwing the ball. We certainly haven't proven anything and were mediocre last year.

I don't blame anyone for being skeptical about it, but I do find it silly and a bit over the top to use a video in a short session of a practice not even at full speed when like you said, are likely working on certain things as opposed to just naturally letting it fly.

While he did go 6/8, he didn't often hit guys in stride. In a game, those ball placements are more likely to either get your guy blown up or potentially batted/picked.

That said, it's one clip from one drill. I'm not gonna say we're going 3-9 just yet.

Trying to understand your comment but can't figure out if you are saying 40+ is old. I assume you are suggesting you are less than 40 and therefore have a more positive outlook.

I can tell you this, I am 40++ and would not consider myself an old ag. I can tell you that the real old ags have seen some stuff that would make today seem like a fantasy. So don't go blaming them.
