After 10 years of playing Alabama every year, i do not care about anyone saying that we are playing a weak SEC schedule.

One year recently we played like 5 teams who were ranked in top 5. We have run through gauntlets. We can only play the teams on the schedule, no more no less.

And its definitely not our fault Beamer gets fired tomorrow meaning 6 coaches we played or will play were fired this year!

BTHO Samford!

I agree. After years of seeing the waters part for Texas, SMU, TCU, etc., it's nice that it has finally happened for us.

My only concern is are we 10-0 because we are a truly great team or are we 10-0 because we've played the 7 worst SEC teams.

Our worst 3 games have been against the bottom 3.

I just don't want us to end up getting embarrassed on national tv like what almost happened today. Like what happened to TCU a few years ago.

It will always be a hard ride in the SEC. There's no doubt the SECW was much much harder though

You can lose any given day in the SEC, and that goes double on the road. We definitely had no focus the first half.

I see tu posters talking about how we're only 10-0 because we've been playing the bottom of the conference. But we have common opponents.

We beat Florida by 17 and they lost.

We blew out Mississippi State, and they needed a miracle comeback.

We'll see how they do next week against Arkansas. But the "bottom feeders" line doesn't seem that convincing to me.

If you don't understand the difference between this team and TCU's, well, I really can't help you.

We beat ND on the road and everyone else on our schedule in the SEC. The only people whining about our schedule are B10 fluffers and horn fans.

Every opponent except Arkansas and SC had two or less losses when we played and their backs against the wall.

Even Arkie and SC played us as their super bowls. I don't see Ohio State playing against many first round draft picks and top 10 offenses.

No one is going 10-0 if they are only playing top teams. Thats the NFL

I'm just glad that when the schedule finally broke our way we took advantage of it. Most years we drop games against the mid to bad teams

We've also had schedules with ****ty teams on them before and not been 10-0 so I'll take it

this.

Winning the games you are supposed to, and winning the big ones often enough (can't win them all), puts you in a position year in and year out to make a break for it when the stars align.

If Elko can get to this point consistently, then that's a big freaking step up for the program. Years of that, and you start getting more of that media bias.

I'm encouraged for the future

Why super important to make a statement this year not only in the SEC and CFP. Can't help that other SEC teams didn't live up to their potential, but we are part of the reason they didn't.

This team loses a lot of talent/experience that's very hard to replace (Elko doesn't have depth of 4 yrs of recruiting yet) and sched much harder next year on paper. Txfr portal helps some, but not guaranteed (yes, we've had some hits for sure, but super hard to get instant OL success when we could need 3-4 starters next year).

Unless we stay undefeated, the schedule will bite us if we lose to either tu or UGA in the SEC championship game (and will be huge consequences if we lose both, as we will plummet down the seedings). The committee is doing all they can to raise up ttu, ND, UGA, and Oregon so buyer beware. IF we lose the next 2 vs. SEC teams (Samford will reduce SOS storyline a lot), we will be traveling for games (think they could lose homefield).

Irony, it's almost best to not be in the SEC championship game...time to heal up players and not risk losing to take a lower seeding. For me, more important to whip tu (finish undefeated) and win the SEC (which would be huge for this program), and this season is a huge success.

They really need to figure out the conference championship thing.

It's ridiculous that playing an extra game against a talented opponent can be held against you when seeding for the playoffs.

It just needs to not be counted. (Or one can't lose a position in the rankings. But can get your autobid).

Rankings as as of the end of regular season

I don't think we can lose both. If we lose to tu we likely won't be in the SECCG, as the 2nd tier tie-breaker is record of common SEC opponents and ours is not good since we played the bottom half of the SEC. Georgia's SEC schedule is done and if Ole Miss beats Miss St and Bama beats Auburn, 2 of those 3 will be in SECCG. If we beat tu, we definitely will be in the SECCG. So likely we will be either 11-1 (loss to tu), 12-1 (loss in SECCG) or 13-0 (SEC Champs) going into the playoffs.

Just drop the CCs, go to a 16 team playoff with no byes and play some football. Even if the CC games don't count against you, there is an advantage of not playing in one and getting a bye week before the playoffs. The CCs have lost their importance with the expanded playoffs. The money generated though will probably keep them around.

Part of the reason they're "bottom half"' is because we beat them all. That especially holds true for Missouri and LSU.

Every year teams like Ohio State and ND play 2 real games and then a bunch of nobodies and are welcomed with open arms to the playoff no questions asked. I refuse to feel bad that it finally happened for us because unlike those two, that won't be our schedule every single year.

Another thing that makes our schedule seem worse than it is is the trend now to fire coaches in the middle of the season. This has a tendency to turn those teams into absolute dumpster fires after the coach gets canned so instead of maybe finishing at a decent 7-5 or 8-4 they end up 5-7 or worse.

At one point, we had 5 of the top 10 teams on or schedule. ND, UT, SC, LSU, and Mizoo have all been in the top 10 at one point.

preseason AP poll had the following teams on our schedule in the top 25
1 - tu (now 17)
6 - ND (now 9)
9 - LSU (now UR)
13 - S Car (now UR)
15 - Florida (now UR)
UR - Missouri (now 23)

I think it says that those UR teams have a lot of talent and were expected to be better, but for whatever reason have not been able to get wins and 2 fired their coaches - which as Emilio noted probably leads to more losses.

We can now say that we played and beat 1 team in the top half of the current SEC standings - Missouri now tied for 8th with Tenn.

In Refugio, where through the decades we have mostly been in weak districts… the old men at the DQ would remind the team "Your record says more about your opponents than it does you. We'll find out how good you are in the playoffs." I can't help but feel that way about this Texas Aggie team. Gig'em!!!

Just quit *****ing, quit worrying, quit whining, quit BASing, hate everyone and KEEP WINNING!!! Who gives a **** who we played.

FWIW, those bottom 7 SEC teams would go through the BIGXII, like **** through a goose.

Consider this;

Bama best mizzou 27-24 we beat them 38-17
Bama best lsu 20-9 we beat them 49-25

Bama beat USCe by 7 we beat them by 1
Ole Miss beat Florida by 10 we beat them by 17

All that aside, if you've watched this team all season long and you think we aren't for real then you should probably re-evaluate how you judge football

They were also just blown out by the one really good team they played. Ou is the only other good team they've played, and they're a few Alabama mistakes away from basically being Missouri.

Playing and maybe losing the SECCG is a risk. That's why SEC shorts jokes about Georgia not wanting in. Winning sounds cool but not at the expense of the playoffs.

Let the sips throw out the "A&M only beat the bottom half of the SEC" line all they want it falls apart faster than their preseason expectations.

1. None of those teams were "bottom feeders" when we played them.
Every single preseason projection had A&M staring at four losses: Notre Dame, Arkansas, LSU, Florida, and t.u. ESPN, media, analytics penciled those in as Ls months before the season even started. We also weren't heavy favorites against Auburn or South Carolina. These were toss-ups or uphill climbs on paper, and everyone knows it.

2. It's convenient revisionist history to call them bottom dwellers now.
Sure, they ended up lower in the standings but that wasn't the narrative when the games happened. Except for South Carolina, nobody was expected to be a pushover. You can't go back in time and pretend these were cupcakes just because seasons evolved. If anything, A&M beating them helped push them toward the bottom.

And honestly? The sips should be the last people on earth trying to play the "cupcake schedule" card.
They've been feasting on soft schedumes for years and still couldn't stack a 10-win regular season. Not one. Not with weaker schedules, not with more hype, not with all the preseason love money can buy.

A&M didn't play a cupcake schedule. We played who was in front of us; the very teams everyone predicted would hand us losses and handled business.

So if the sips want to chirp about "bottom half of the SEC," let 'em.
It's the only half of the SEC they'll ever be familiar with anyway.
