trying my best to not be influenced by the copious amounts of talk we are set to receive in the coming weeks, but some of it naturally has me questioning the hype that followed us this year. 11-1 is nothing to be mad about -- i get that. sucks to lose to tu and i am beyond frustrated with a million different things regarding this program, but we blew away preseason expectations and that's not necessarily something to gloss over. however, i worry that this game will be indicative of playoff performance, as im sure practically everybody on the site is.
with that being said though, what quality wins do we really have this year? that's not me throwing some thinly-veiled jab either, its a genuine question. notre dame? certainly a good win, but one we sneaked past with all things considered. lsu? definitely a hell of a win as well, but they had already fallen to ole miss and vandy by the time we met them in dv. the ugly truth is that 5/7 of our sec opponents this year make up the bottom rankings of the conference. if this is the caliber of play we are planning on bringing to non middle of the road or bottom of the barrel conference teams, i cant say im optimistic about CFP. im not packing all my bags and hopping on the doom train just because of this loss like most people on here, but there are 100% things to be said about the program after this that we have been avoiding since august.
