OK, I didn't watch last night's game (or ANY game thus far) because of a superstitious belief that I'm a "Voodoo Curse", which will cause us to lose if I watch our games. I'm absolutely aware it's a stupid & vapid premise, but living 10 years in South Louisiana planted the seed of 'mojo', 'gris-gris', etc.
HOWEVER, I distinctly remember watching A&M losing a heart-breaking game against t.u. at DKR in '98(??); the primary complaint by us (besides dumb play calls & poor execution) was the mysterious "wet field" where our players slipped & fell throughout the game despite Austin receiving ZERO rainfall that day or the day before. We were actually told afterwards there was a screw-up when we brought the wrong type of cleats, along with conspiracy theories the sips had intentionally watered the field before game time.
Last night & today, I've read countless posts about Owens mysteriously slipping & falling as if he wore ice skates, the o'line incapable of getting leverage, etc.
Accordingly, WHY IN THE HELL can't our team fathom the need to bring several types of footwear to suit DKR's field conditions?!?! We have a ****-ton of money, so we obviously can buy every conceivable type of football cleat available for ANY condition: mud, turf, wet or dry grass, maybe even concrete!! So, why does it seem our team only thinks to bring one type of footwear? If the issue is Adidas only offers one type of shoe, tell them we'll wear their ****ing cleats every game EXCEPT ones at DKR, where all bets are off!!!
Ask ANY 'Old Army' Aggie about "Shoe Gate", or simply search this site for topics about that game & the allegation t.u. 'watered down the field'; you'll see I'm not making up this topic.
If it's even partially true that our cleats contributed to our players slipping & sliding last night, then WHY doesn't A&M ever do something pragmatic in an abundance of caution to mitigate an issue that curiously continues to occur at DKR?
Besides giving massive & costly contract extensions at inopportune times &/or crapping the bed during big stage moments to solidify BAS, why can't we have the foresight to have a dedicated box full of every type of cleat known to man for every player that travels to EVERY game as an "OH ****" backup plan?!?!
After reading "Blackhawk Down", I came to realize the importance of having an 'OS Plan' in place just in case; should this novel be required reading for our team's Equipment Manager?!?! Good Lord!!!
