SMU is down 17-7 at half to Cal as I write this. UVA is up 17-0 on Va Tech. If UVA & SMU both win, they're in the ACC Championship game. BUT, if SMU loses, then 7-5 Duke goes to play UVA. What if Duke were to beat UVA in the Championship game? Would Duke take a spot as the 5th Conference Champ? I don't think so, the ACC isn't guaranteed a spot. I think the Sun Belt Champ, assuming it's a 12-1 James Madison might take their place. I don't show them ranked in the CFP Rankings, but they are #20
In the AP poll. So the SEC, B12, B10, Sun Belt & American Chaps would be the auto-bids. Maybe Miami makes it as an at large, but this could really throw a monkey wrench in things.
I'm pretty sure I have all this correct. Tell me if I missed something…

Yes, correct but would need TWO G5 teams to be ranked ahead of Duke for them to be left out as ACC champ and I have no idea of those teams / champs rankings as they are not in the top 20/25

JMU & Tulane/North Tx are ranked ahead of them.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the 5 highest ranked conference champions? Not the P4 Champs + the highest G5 Champ.

G tech, smu, Pitt, Arizona st, Tennessee all lost and are in the bottom of the cfp rankings. Meanwhile, Tulane won and jmu blew out coastal. Jmu is top 25 in the ap and coaches poll.
