As mad as I am about the loss, if you told me before the season we'd go 11-1 and make the playoff without telling me the loss would be tu, I'd assume the loss was in Baton Rouge and be okay with that.

After the bowl game, I like several others saw 3-5 losses with this year's schedule. I figured @ND, @LSU and @tu were almost guaranteed losses, @Arky and @Missouri would be dogfights, and that the Gators and Gamecocks might find a way to pull an upset. And yet, we found a way to win all but 1. I believe we were picked to finish eighth in the SEC but we finished 7-1 to end up in a 4-way tie. Sips denied us a spot in Atlanta AGAIN, but they along with OU, LSU, and Arkansas are looking up at A&M in the standings. The preseason #1 might not make the playoff even after beating us, and we still have an opportunity to have our best season in a very long time if we flush this one and move on.

Someone else mentioned in another thread, Ohio State lost to Michigan last year for the 4th time in a row but they went on to win the natty. Let's hope we keep this thing going a bit longer. Recruits and portal players will see what Elko is building and get us over that hump....right?

Any rational fan would have jumped at 11-1. Been a great year. A couple playoff wins and we should all be happy. Texas has no path to the playoffs in a sane world. BIG (2 or 3); SEC (5); XII (1 or 2); ACC (1 or 2); Irish (1); Other (1). Heck, Vandy is in deep trouble despite a really good year. Bama, UGA, Miss, A&M and OU are in. OSU AND Indy are in. Quack Attack should be in. Irish are in. Tech is in when they beat BYU. ACC is in. Other is in. That still leaves Vandy and Miami with legit claims. Thank the lord we beat USC.

I mean, teams like Ohio State, Oregon, and Notre Dame seem to playing championship football at the right time so they'll have some say. I am glad we caught the Irish early. And then there will be 3 or 4 other SEC teams that we have not played yet in the field as well. Going to have to play our best football from here on out.

We are going to be a 5, 6 or 7 seed in playoffs and host a HOME PLAYOFF GAME at KYLE FIELD.

The Ags are positioned to play for a National Championship after the regular season has ended. Ask yourself when the last time that occurred was. Perspective.

I think my biggest disappointment (aside from losing to sip), is that Elko was completely inept again against sark

Sark is not a great coach... He's an avg coach that has above avg talent

& yet Elko, who appears to be a great coach, has now been clowned by a lesser coach 2 straight years

He turned things around this year after last years disaster so I'm sure he can figure it out....

Just really disappointing that nobody was ready to go for the biggest game of the year 2 straight seasons

The gratitude of where we are versus where we predicted ourselves to be is all fine and dandy (I myself figured 4 losses: ND, Arkansas, LSU, Texas), but expectations change as the season progresses.

Sure If someone told me at the start of the season we would go 11 and 1, I would be ecstatic. But by the time we are 11 and 0 entering our final regular season game, with a trip to the conference championship, which has not happened in over a quarter of a century on the line, I expected not necessarily a win in Austin but a good game. A game worthy of our undefeated play and having overcome a variety of obstacles along the way.

Losing that game in that fashion was an epic, but seemingly expected, failure despite whatever I might have predicted prior to the season.

Edit: to add, though I maintain a belief that, if this team is truly different, hopefully coaches and players alike learn from such a loss, which propels them to the finals.

Everything is still in front of this team. With a 16 team playoff i think the SEC championship game is not as critical as it once was. Would i have liked to see us there? Hell yes. Do I hate how we lost it? Hell yes.

O state lost to meatchicken last year and came back hard. I want to see that. Obviously that includes winning it all but win at least one and compete hard. I just want a team we can be proud is representing us.

I'd take Elko over Sark every day. I would however hire sark as an OC. So he's got that going for him.

The silver lining is that we don't have to risk injury in an increasingly stupid and worthless CCG and can get that week to heal quite a few niggling injuries from that pathetic excuse for a field AND hopefully have a 90-95% Moss back. And we escape the first round bye curse from last year. Still hated the loss...

I couldn't disagree more. Problem wasn't near as much the defense as our offense only scoring 1/2 of their average against a bad defense. That is where we were badly out coached.
