If Moss comes back, we get to the semis at minimum

It's pretty clear that Moss is our best back. He's explosive, breaks tackles, and takes a lot of pressure off Reed. The offense has been inconsistent at best with him out of the lineup.

I hate to assign so much importance to a non-QB, but two years of data doesn't lie. I know Moss and the staff is doing whatever it takes to get back on the field.

Playoff opportunities can never be taken for granted. I don't see how we get to the semis or the champ game without him. With him back in the lineup, we can win it all.

Many here expected 8-4 or worse after he went down mid-season. I agree having him back at 90-100% make everything better.

I applaud your optimism but there are deeper issues right now besides the running back and the addition of Moss is not a magic fix all elixir.

Why is that? HAS heals in less than 10 weeks. Or is at least manageable.

He would make a difference, for sure.

The issue with him getting back on the field is that he is liable to get hurt again. He simply can't stay healthy.

I agree and actually am more worried about our run defense. But come on, getting a healthy Moss back would definitely make a positive difference. Either way, winning playoff games will be tough.

guess we shouldn't even try since there is a theoretical chance he could get injured again.

If Moss is full strength we can do much more than just get to the semifinals.

He carried the team last year which was not close to as strong as we are overall this year.

Looch said he was close to coming back for tu. Probably would have, except we would rather have him full speed for the playoffs.

If Moss unable to go, I would be giving EJ more carries and definitely use him as our short yardage back. Too many other guys in there in short yardage situations. Need EJ to be short yardage back.

Smith has been great with limited opportunities. I value his experience and ability in the playoffs. But Moss is a literal game changer IMO.

His presence changed the ceiling for this team.

I think re-add Moss as primary (assuming he is fully recovered and ready to carry the load) more EJ Smith when Moss out, and then split even number of carries for the other three backs (including Daniels).

I agree with the OP. The Aggies have 3 weeks (almost another fall camp) to get well, rested, refocused. And 3 weeks to work on fixing problems. Trying to fix problems during a week to week schedule is pretty difficult it has to be drilled and drilled until it becomes a habit. Moss back and healthy gives us a chance to control the clock better. It takes some pressure off of Marcel. Our OL gets some rest and recovery too during this 3 weeks. It is hard on the big guys going in the trench wars week after week. I think you see a much better Aggie team coming out of this 3 week period. The time off as far as the playoffs go is better than playing this weekend And the chance of injury in the conference championship is real Ask Georgia I think this sets up for a good playoff run for the Aggies. I called an Aggie playoff team before the season and was ridiculed. I am not backing off on them now. Aggies make a playoff run!

I don't understand what was happening with Owens? It seemed like he tackled himself multiple times in the game against Texas.

. I saw that too. He had a couple of huge holes and looked like big gainers and he just fell. I don't know if he tried to hurry and lost balance or if he was running with a lot of forward lean expecting contact and lost balance. But you are right, he had running room and just fell.

All part of Elko's grand plan to avoid the CCG and get the playoff game at home, but still look like he wasn't throwing the game

Sad we lost, because his block on our lone TD should get some celebration. Just perfect.

I agree. Owens is a good back, but he's not a difference maker. He seems to lose his feet a lot when there's daylight ahead of him... He doesn't run people over, he doesn't make defenders miss, and he's not real quick. If he gets in the open field, he's pretty fast. But that doesn't happen much because he doesn't break tackles or make people miss. He is a pretty good receiver out of the backfield, and I think he's a pretty good blocker. I think he was a 5-star or high 4-star recruit, but he hasn't lived up to it. A good back, but nothing too special IMO.

Totally agree. The guy who has improved a ton is EJ Smith. He always seems to fall forward and makes those two yard runs into four yard runs. Plus he breaks tackles and doesn't go down easily or trip over grass.

Neither him or Owens have break away speed so i would rather see him and Morrow as the 1-2 punch.

Owens is a serviceable back. He had a lot of problems with the turf in Austin. He doesn't turn the ball over which is great.

But he's not Moss. Moss gives us the chance to win a title.

I hope Moss is ready for the playoffs as he will be needed.
However, if we don't get this damn run defense fixed I'm not sure his return will overcome that deficiency..

We do have deeper issues, but the threat of Moss goes a long way in covering them up. He opens up the passing game. He makes short yardage (almost) a foregone conclusion. He keeps the defense more rested. He tires out the opposing defense. I think you're really underselling his impact.

You mean our most physical runner gets nicked up? What a surprise. I'm sure he faked the cheapshot to the knee he took last year too. Maybe if he had a third kid he could have avoided it.
