Schools like OleMiss and the like have the dollars from boosters to pay coaches and players as much as LSU, but they can't match the fanbase (stadium size, tv ratings, and general buzz). It's a bigger stage and most coaches (and players) crave it. That is why Kiffin left OleMiss even though they offered to match the LSU contract.

In dynasty mode on NCAA back in the day, it was called "Program Prestige"

They couldn't match the NIL plan that LSU had lined up either. Apparently it's up to $30 million on top of the revenue sharing meaning that LSU promised Lane to spend $40ish million a year on the roster

LSU is not messing around anymore

Apparently fan base isn't everything LSU is going to be watching Ole Miss in the playoffs.

" They couldn't match the NIL plan that LSU had lined up either. Apparently it's up to $30 million"

I have seen Lane's contract and there isn't one word about NIL in it. The NIL number being thrown around is $25 million but I wouldn't trust LSU's AD to balance a checkbook.

LSU is probably paying out a total of $70 million for BK's buyout, Woodward's buyout, Kiffin's OM buyout, Kiffin's CFP bonus he would have received from OM, and buyout for LSU staff.

The same people who are paying these massive buyouts are the same people writing the NIL checks and $70 million is significant even for billionaires.

So LSU has dug themselves into a deep financial hole while we are getting more healthy.

Zero concern that we can't go toe to toe or exceed LSU in NIL payments.

$17 Mil for Ed O, $54 Mil for BK, $91 for Kiffin. Insane amount of money allocated in such a short amount of time. In a matter of 4 years?

LSU will be getting the same players but paying more for them. Robbing Pierre to pay Jean Paul.

Louisiana is a sportsman's paradise, fun place to go, mostly great people, but GD the people in charge are crooked AF.

Well Lane Kiffin was obviously very convinced by their NIL pitch and stated in his press conference it wasn't close to what Florida and Ole Miss were offering

We gave Fisher an enormous buyout, and just extended Elko in year two. It's TBD on how we're doing. Take a look at our conference slate next year.

There is an interesting article that says he didn't get along with the UF AD and they weren't going to give him full control of the program and were going to hire their own GM. LSU on the other hand said you are in 100% control. It's also interesting because the article mentions that Kiffin was lobbying hard for the A&M job when we fired Jimbo. It didn't have anything to do with NIL money. UF has plenty of money.

You should know by now to take anything said by Kiffin or the LSU AD with a grain of salt. The LSU AD is a bag man who specialized in covering up abuse scandals.

Making it possible for 40,000 students to attend each ball game is one of the highest return investments the University is making.

Attending the football games nurtures a deep loyalty and support among the student body and pays off in future donations.

Maybe Kiffin didn't want to work as much as he did at Ole Miss. he won't have to at LSU. Players flock to that sheeeeeeety school because even a moron can easily be admitted and they still consider LSU as a prestige program. Their NIL money is what players want. Kiffin won't need to recruit as hard. He'll have his pick of coaches. He'll have complete control. And they'll worship him … another thing that he craves. But … if he doesn't produce a natty (after won nothing in the SEC), it will be fun to watch what happens.
