If BYU loses AND Bama gets curb-stomped, they will move Texas into the ten-spot. There is also the remote possibility that Ole Miss players will start hitting the portal to follow Kiffin. Money talks, folks. IF that happens, there is a chance Ole Miss could be dropped out of the Top 12, and then Texas would slide in as the 10-seed.

Leapfrogging Vandy and Utah was the first step; it would be too obvious if they also leapfrogged Miami in the same week. The committee wants an excuse to have Texas. In their ideal world, BYU and Bama lose badly and Ole Miss suffers a massive talent drain, and then they could bring both Texas and Miami in.

But as long as Bama doesn't get curb-stomped, this does not happen.

I don't see BYU getting penalized at all for losing when there's already so much space between them and tceh. And Bama isn't going to fall past a team that's not even playing a CCG.
