WHO CARES where we SHOULD be ranked?

I'm seeing 7474849 posts about this metric vs that metric against other one loss teams.

Frankly it just doesn't matter. We should've take care of business against tu but we didn't. Now we're at the mercy of the committee.

Here's the answer Ags: we will rightfully so be the lowest ranked 1 loss team and will play who we have to play in that position!

This is the OBVIOUS post of the year but I thought it was also OBVIOUS that we don't need multiple analysis of where we SHOULD be ranked as well as multiple posts complaining about being ranked #7!!!

"SHUT UP AND WIN" we'll either take care of business or we won't!

I disagree. If the one loss teams ranked above us had taken care of THEIR BUSINESS and hadn't lost a game then, and only then, would no conversation be warranted. I keep hearing Ags still dismissing our season: weak schedule, lost to the only team in the top half of the SEC, yada yada yada and I think trying to discredit this team's accomplishments is a disgrace.

There's two different things going on. Yes, of course if we win all 12 games we'll remain highly ranked.

The OTHER issue is that if we are not in this perfect fantasy land we get screwed because we're not as big of a name as Texas or Alabama, or apparently Texas Tech even (who hasn't beat a top 10 team). If we don't have a perfect undefeated season then SOS should come into play and it doesn't consistently across teams.

THAT is the problem and well worth b******* about.
No, I don't care what CNN or Miss NOW said this time

Ranking teams with the same win/loss record is tricky and I'm glad I don't have to do it.

Beyond the first round, they're all hard games anyway. Just win.

Ratings nerds are the same people that go bananas over recruiting posts.

How many people care about who was rated in the top ten three years ago? Can you remember who the top ten recruits of three years ago?

You're going to give yourself an aneurism over a single ranking position.

We'll face off against a 9 or 10 seed, but if we're actually good enough to win the natty, we can beat them. If we lose in the first round, why stress about what could have been because we would have eventually lost anyway.

No one is arguing that....

But it's naive to not recognize getting paired with the G5 winner or ACC winner that's likely to be a little tune up scrimmage for whoever is in those games is a lot better path than playing Bama, ND, or OU....

No one is arguing the simple fact that you have to beat tough teams down the line regardless.

This is simply why they need to ditch some of this auto bid stuff and rank the top 12 best teams and go play. It would eliminate the HUGE advantage being 5 or 6 this year is over 7 or 8.

Top 10 recruits from 3 years ago - DJ Hicks, Rueben Owens, Chase Bisontis, Dalton Brooks, Marcel Reed, Daymion Sanford, Taurean York....feels kind of relevant to me and this team.

In most years, the 6 slot isn't a huge advantage, either. The ACC is just particularly bad this year. But that's all just the advantage of a good ranking. Same as a bye.

Ummmmm.....This is the first time it has EVER been done this way. This is a brand new format for playoffs and they scrapped last year's model because it was a joke to give the 4 conference winners byes

Ok let me rephrase. In most years the 6 slot SHOULDN'T be a huge advantage. I would hope that all 4 P4 conference winners should regularly be top 11 teams (or at least really close to it), meaning the only garbage slot is 12.

FYI: When judges determine the outcome of a sports event... it's not a sports event, it's a competition.
College football is no different than ice skating or a beauty pageant.

My only real complaint is Tceh at 4. They've played no one. They should be 7 with the current 5/6/7 each sliding up one.

They will be big 12 champs after this weekend and they value conference champs. They should probably be 6-7 right now then bump up to 4 after winning the big 12
