All texas had to to was take care of business against FL and they are in even with loses to Uga and osu. They didn't and should stop crying about it.

A 25 point loss to a playoff team late in the season doesn't indicate they should be in the playoffs either. Especially when Georgia had close wins against Florida and GT.

Both things can be true..
A. The committee does not value scheduling difficult non-conference matchups
Support:
1. A&M not ahead of Ole Miss, Oregon, or Tech, despite similar or better resume, and scheduling and winning difficult non-conference road game while the others played all patsies.
2. Miami behind Notre Dame
3. Alabama loss to FSU forgotten about after week 5.
B. Texas should not have lost to Florida
Texas only has this argument BECAUSE the committee has completely failed at valuing the teams who scheduled and won big non-conference matchups. At the same time, they still could have taken care of business better, like Alabama did after losing to a bad team, and they would be in the field right now.
If the rankings were the way they SHOULD be, it would be this..
1. Ohio State
2. Indiana
3. Georgia
4. A&M
5. Oregon
6. Tech
7. Ole Miss
8. Oklahoma
9. Alabama
10. Miami
11. Notre Dame
12 BYU
13. Texas
14. Vandy

Exactly. But it's funny how good losses/good wins and bad losses/bad wins change depending on the team. Not necessarily who they're playing, but who is favored by the media. Even if they were the same matchups.

And to be on TV. LHN was a disaster. No Big XII network. Needed a high profile match-up to get national TV coverage, meaning OTA network coverage. Not some obscure Fox Sports cable network with the ever present 11 AM time slot..
The Big XII was basically in TV purgatory after A&M and Missouri left. They were on thin enough ice when Nebraska and Colorado left. And the decision to not add teams to get back up o 12 to continue divisions and a CCG really made the Big XII mostly an afterthought nationwide.
Just to be clear, if they didn't play Ohio St, they still had to play a Power 4 or major independent (like ND) right? I thought that was a requirement, just like it is in 2026.

If I've learned anything about sips over the years, it's that their level of (unjustified) arrogance and entitlement is unmatched. That being said, I imagine whiny Sark has a nice incentive bonus tied to securing a CFP spot. He's just working to put a little more jingle in his pocket.

Alabama was left out of the playoffs last year at 9-3. Yesterday they canceled next years non-conference game with South Florida and replaced it with Chattanooga. This is exactly why college football in September is headed toward looking like the NFL preseason.
