I know we lost to Texas last week, but he has completely flipped the 8-4 culture upside down in just year 2. That deserves a mention in my book. It sucks we are having the best season since JFF was on the sidelines, and it's getting downplayed every week by the media.

Oh well. Let's go BTHO playoffs.

He shouldn't be nationally. But he should be a lock for SEC CotY.

Always amazes me when people look at our program in a vacuum. Other teams do good stuff too. Sometimes better than us. And there's 128? other than us I believe.

No issue with Cignetti or Leah, but never sure how to feel about guys like Ryan Day being on this list. Hey played 1 team all year that wasn't massively out talented by OSU (tu) and beat them by 7.

I know Saban is the GOAT and Kirby is awesome, but other than games to each other, every games these guys have ever lost were teams with less talent than their own and generally by a wide margin.

Put another way, I'm not sure I would bet on any other coaches doing wthat Cignetti or Leah did.

I bet there are at least 20 coaches athat could have OSU undefeated right now.

It's going take some sustained success and championships to change the national perception that A&M is a place where it should be easy to win, but inevitably disappoints.

Sports reporters either love the Little Engine That Could stories, or giving career recognition to repeat winners. Aggie football doesn't really fit those categories just at this precise moment.

That is exactly the reason why he SHOULD be in the race for COTY.

Why shouldn't he?

Plenty of other teams "do good stuff" but we were one of 3 undefeated teams going into the last weekend of November. He secured the first playoff berth for the school. We could still win the whole damn thing. It'd be stupid not to have him on the shortlist in that case.

One of 2 things:
1. He should be considered/included at this point.
And/or
2. They should postpone finalists until playoffs shake out.

A&M was expected to be mid to lower level sec team. He had this team 11-0 and one of three undefeated teams. A&M hasn't had that start since 1992 and in the playoffs for the first time ever. If that isn't coy material nationally I don't know what is.

Even though we did not make the schedule, we have been "accused" of only playing the "bottom rung" of the SEC, thusly being undefeated.

Beating the sips would have quieted those statements.

We have always had the money, the recruiting, the facilities, and the fans but have never delivered or put it together.

Clark Lea has only had success after raiding the entire New Mexico State offensive coaching staff and roster, Pavia and Stowers included. That New Mexico State team destroyed Auburn 31-10 in Jordan Hare and went to back to back bowl games in 2022-2023, almost 60 year gap between bowl games before that.

We've had an amazing season and I love Elko and think he's the guy but there's no way Lea doesn't win it for the SEC. Vandy at 10 wins and and .800 plus winning percentage is historic for a program that's been here for 100+ years. No way that doesn't get rewarded.

If Cig beats osu he deserves it, hands down. That said, Elko not on that list is ridiculous. Day won the NC last year for goodness sake.

The numbers sure support it, so yeah. Hell, New Mexico State had more SEC wins in 2023 than Vanderbilt. They beat Auburn 31-10, Vanderbilt only scored 31 points in an SEC game ONCE 2021-2023. Vanderbilt was 2-22 in the SEC his first three years.
