Does this mean the new contract begins

A) immediately
B) end of this season
C) start of next season

Im curious about Klein's salary and bonus situation, like if he just got a pay raise and now a bigger buyout prior to KSU grabbing him.

With Wiggins being the de facto OC, does that interfere with postseason bonuses?

Did Klein even sign the new contract?

I thought Klein was coaching the postseason

Maybe. All it says is his average base. Not what he'll actually get paid, how, or yearly raises / escalations.

For a first time head coach at a middle of the road Big12 school that isn't bad. Especially considering everyone knows he wanted the job and was probably willing to take less.

This is pretty normal. Please see all the other comments indicating such.

Elko himself said the new incentive contract began immediately for the whole staff.

You don't get a buyout when you leave to go coach somewhere else. You get a buyout if you get fired, so the new compensation structure would not have impacted that portion of it.
