Evans, Manziel, Cheek, and Bertolet are the only names that I recognize or remember.
Who else from this class was a starter or played to some degree?

When you get a NFL HOFer and a Heisman Trophy winner in a class it's a good class

Memories of Johnnie Football and future Hall of Famer, Mike Evans. And, highest ranked was Floyd "The Raven" Raven.

Howard Matthews caught the winning touchdown in Tuscaloosa and Everitt got the pick in the endzone in Tuscaloosa and was drafted and played in the league.

Raven wanted to sign with Ole Miss but his mother hid the scholarship papers so he signed with the good guys. True story.

Few teams win championships with 2 total draft picks from a class.

That class is a massive part of the reason we sucked on defense in 2013/2014.

Howard Matthews was a safety. Malcom Kennedy caught the last TD

Matthews was a safety.

Everett should have been the 3rd draft pick in that class behind Evans and manziel. He was the lone good defensive player from it

Matthews and raven were average at best and the rest is the defense was well below average

Floyd Raven, Howard Mathews, & Deshazor Everett were 4-year solid contributors, at minimum. Everett is the most notable, with the goal line interception to seal the 2012 Alabama win.

Totally agree. I think the OP's point was that we didn't used to recruit well but there are at least three NFL guys on that list and other solid contributors. That's a good class for anyone.

Everett had a long NFL career he was a little more than a solid contributor.

He also had the game winning tackle at the goal line to preserve the Bama win, if memory serves correct.

I remember when every year we basically:
- waited to see who Mack Brown took at his big spring recruiting event (generally was something like 13-15 of the top 20 players in the state)
- waited to see who OU grabbed (generally another 10-12 of the top 40)
- fought with OU for a few of our top end prospects
- occasionally fought with tu for 1-2 kids
- battled with tech & osu for the majority of our class (we usually won most of these battles, but not all)

That's why I ignore a lot of these long term "A&M has never won anything" types of comments - we've only had the talent profile we have now since about 2020. In 2012 & 13 we had a ton of talent, but most of it was WAY outplaying its ranking. Prior to that, you had to go back to early-mid 90s.

Coach Sherm was great at finding players on offense.

He just couldn't finish a game in the second half.

How many of his recruits played NFL?

Tying into the other thread on our most recent recruits... I think we are getting very spoiled on our recruiting pulls of late. We use to barely get any talent and now we are seeing loads of it...

It's a nice change from days of old... All the facility upgrades post Manziel certainly helped.

Other than those 3 DBs, we got nothing out of the rest of the defensive signees from that class. Maybe a little from Donnie Baggs his last year.
