Bama question

Bama beat UGA 24-21 in Athens this season.

Explain to me why the Committee currently has Bama ranked behind Oregon, Ole Miss, us, and OU but if they beat UGA (at a neutral site) now they will now magically be ranked in front of all these teams?

I think the common explantation is that they are the SEC champs, correct? Although there would be still two other SEC teams with only one SEC loss. Bama just got to play in the championship game because of a random tiebreaker that the SEC came up with. Meanwhile the Playoff Committee clearly thinks OU, Ole Miss, and us are better SEC teams since they have us ranked higher.

Maybe Bama beating UGA another time just means Bama is better than UGA nothing more.

This is probably a rhetorical question

Because OU beat them. Head to matter matters to the committee.

Take for instance Notre Dame and Miami. Oh wait

Ops question is not why is Bama currently ranked behind Oregon, Ole Miss, us and OU. His question is why wouldn't they stay ranked behind us even if they win. They still will have two losses including a H2H with OU.

I agree with your line of reasoning but who the heck knows what the committee will do

They are ranked behind us & the other 1 loss teams b/c they **** the bed in the opener against a, as it turned out, woeful FSU team & then lost AT HOME vs ou.

Yes, they beat UGA in Athens. Big win, but they then lost late in the season, which ALWAYS hurts(see our loss to tu) more than losing early.

We're behind Oregon & ol' Miss for the same reason.

Alabama is ranked behind Oregon, Ole Miss, us, and Oklahoma because their loss to 5-7 (2-6 ACC) Florida State looks bad now. Yes, Alabama beat Georgia on the road, but they also lost to Oklahoma at home.

I think the committee's reasoning would be recency bias in reverse. In other words, a late season win in a 13th game they would argue can help a team tremendously. Even to the point of viewing that team's body of work as superior to the other teams mentioned that are currently ahead of Alabama.
